Sheens survives at Tigers for now

The fact they couldn't back sheens makes me think he's gone. the fact they are still reviewing him to me means they are exploring there options to get rid of him

100% agree. It's a matter of getting ducks in a row before firing the gun. Decide on a new coach and what to do with the old one. Hopefully the warriors bail us out (although surely this bad publicity must be concerning them) but if not, move Sheens into the office as maybe recruitment manager (identifying talent has never been his problem IMO) or at worst he can be the worlds most overpaid receptionist.

I hope the money factor isn't the reason they won't sack him.

Unfortunately that's all it is about.Shenius wants his pie and wants to eat it further he dosent want to put on weight.Take the pay out, sign with Warriors get top dollar and double dip. He knows his no longer wanted.
The same selfish and stubborn attitude that got him here in the first place. It's a matter of when not if he is leaving and under what circumstances. The board is playing his game.Who will win??? Who cares as long as he goes :sign:

Of course sheens wants his money - who wouldnt - you cant critcise a bloke for wanting every dollar he is contracted to earn. What and Highno didnt want the money of a 3 yr deal more then staying here for a year and seeing if he could earn 2 more years.

it's obvious they're still looking for a way to get rid of him + looking up new coaching options. I'm thinking maybe a 1 year compromise then try for a new coach for 2014.

Dunno Demon

I reckon Sheens 2 best options for him are either seeing his contract out with the Tigers or leaving now to join the Warriors

Who knows what happens in 12 months

Warriors get a makeshift coach and they fire and make the Top 4

Least we don't have to be concerned with that (Top 4 that is )

Lets not rush to criticise.

My guess, and that is all it is obviously is as follows:

- the Board wants to sack Sheens
- the Board doesnt have a lazy 1$m to pay out his contract
- the Board suspects, knowing Sheens, that he will want to continue coaching
- the Board understands that the Warriors want Sheens as coach as their first choice
- the Warriors wont wait around forever; if Sheens is available in the near term they will sign him if not move on to their next choice
- in making tonight's announcement the Board has delayed matters and to some extent thrown the ball back into Sheen's court. He can hang in there looking for his million or he can cut a quick deal and move onto the Warriors. Just a guess.

This seems to make sense to me. Are we all agreed if we had the cash he'd be gone? If Sheens is trying to double dip, I think we should just bench him if we are going to loose that money either way. Make him turn up to clean the toilets (perhaps a tad too disrespectful but you get the point) and get someone else to coach for peanuts. His chances of getting another coaching will be dropping by the minute. NZ will need to move on soon. The ball is in your court Tim…..I suspect he'll try something elaborate and end up passing it 20 metres over the side line.....old habits....

In my opinion he's gooonnnneee and if so all that has happened with players leaving really doesn't concern me all too much.

Rick Stone to replace Sheens he did a wonderful job with a not so wonderful squad at Newcastle.

Not a bad move I guess. Worst thing that can happen is we give him a nice payout then he turns around and signs with the Warriors next week. This is basically the club saying "if you want him he's yours."

Postponing the inevitable.
Emphasis on the "for now" bit. They definitely had an intention for something to happen.
Sheens wants to take one last tour of the gym guys….

As quoted above I think the action by the club is to wedge Sheens in making the choice himself. The Warriors won't wait to much longer to name a coach if they name some one else the club will have to pay Sheens out but then he will be coach less for many seasons other than the Aussie gig this won,t sit well one wouldn't think. Sheens is gone IMO one way or the other has lost player group/ fan base/ management the club will just have to cut it's lose and move on , it will be a new start and a bit of a rocky road ahead but at least a fresh start.

There was nothing in the statement to suggest sheens was "safe" only that he was continued to be part of the review. To me that sounds like he is gone and the board are trying to do it as cheaply and quietly as possible. The main issue i have with that is that atm the club is still in turmoil and more damage will be done. The board should have sacked him last night
