So were coming 16th, maybe spoon now.

Sheens starts the year after a Bumper recruitment of Staines, Api, Klemmer, Wakeham (surprisingly good), Bateman, Paps*.

Sheens signs on wanting to appoint his own staff.

Clearly the board at this point, after numerous losses, wanting someone other then a Sheens appointee to be able to help make recruitment decisions.

were they right?

* I look at that list and go WOW.

Sheens has 1 more season then formally hands over to Benji.

Fulton needs to build a multi year squad that has minimum 19 spots up for grabs over the next 18mths leading into 25 (season Sheens isn’t coach).

Don’t think this is a tough decision.

Has Fulton done anything yet?

what are we judging him on?
I agree with u , but I can’t work out why we keep letting players go and have publicly said others will be shopped around , yet there appears to be no , players that many come in . We have a war chest of cap and players will not be resigned at the end of the year , but if Fulton and sheens are not on the same page I can see us been at the bottom again next year and maybe for many years to come

I hope Benji is not behind the Fulton signing? Unfortunately for Fulton, because of the devious way he was dovetailed into the picture, he will always be seen as a symbol of mistrust.

I think the board could see players were not coming
like we needed so they decided that sheens plan had slowed to a grinding halt , we are last our reserve grade are shit and the young guys who are years away can’t help , so get rid of one problem Macca and his replacement Fulton may just be the person that can grab that 3/ 4 players needed to push us up into finals , we need. Half / 5/8 and Centre now there are plenty out there better than our current lot , just need to break contracts just like Mower boy , Mattoson , Joffa , Tommy , etc etc , cash talks and we have plenty , Sheens pissed off about Fulton , bad luck sir your results so far are shit and you got some good players like Bateman , Ipapp , api , Klemmer and we still bottom , see ya , over to you Benji

Fulton was a great acquisition. He will pay off. Sheens brought some stability to the team after Madge was sacked but I think he is too overpowering and with only a short time horizon until he moves on, I don’t think he should be making any recruitment decisions.

We don’t just let them go, we fight with them first.
Threaten them to be cutting lawn at LO etc.
Many of the players leave disgruntled, which may indicate poor communication or conflict of objectives. I think we’ve tried to recruit every half in the comp, but they won’t come, why?

Sheens is doing what not many would do.
He is developing Benji and protecting him from the media because if he didn't Benji would most likely be gone by now after the start we had. He doesn't care about his reputation
Sheens identifies the young talent and gives them the confidence and chance to play 1st grade. Bula is a great example as not many coaches put him in at that time. Credit to him.
TBF the club has moved on alot of dead wood and IMO heading in the right direction.

Unfortunately we are in for some more hurt now with Api, Brooks, stains, AD out long term so assume sheens will need to blood more young ones.

Says it as it is, for me too.

Yes, great opportunity to learn if they’re good enough, then they’re old enough.

Iam really surprised that people actually think the recruitment manager wields a lot of influence over the club and is working independently to the coaching staff.

Sheens would be telling Fulton what sort of players he wants and Fulton would then try and source these players. Okay because he came from Manly he has good contacts there but he would also be looking everywhere else. When push comes to shove its Sheens and Benji that decides who comes to the club.

Big Mac was pushed aside because of the way MMs negotiations panned out

Really don't think Mac would have made one iota of difference in MM decision not to sign with us, because he never was going to leave Parra no matter how the club tried to paint it otherwise.

What ever control Sheens thought he had has been hit with a sledgehammer - at the hand of our illustrious leaders - and the fall out from that has only just started - re WMac gone.
Lee H and Pascoe only know one way - turmoil.

I think it is more a case that with Sheens being the head coach with added responsibility of developing the next coach, he doesn’t have the time to focus on the much needed roster building work we have ahead of us.
WT for better or worse recognised this and got someone they believe has the right skills and connections to take that burden off Sheens.
Sheens can’t be Head of Football, Head Coach, Coaching Development Officer, Head of Recruitment etc all at once, there isn’t enough time in the day.
