Short Kick offs

2 from 2 today, What stats guru can tell me the following?

1.) What % of short kickoffs this season have given the defending team the ball back?

2) Of those unsuccessful short kick-off, how many of those ended in a try for the other team, or a try within the next say, 3 sets of six?

They seem to be more successfull these days then they were back in the day.

It's interesting how successful they are. Maybe we should try them more often.

It seems lately a lot do go the way of the kicker. The problem will always be that if they don't then the attacking team will usually find themselves close to the opposing tryline on the last tackle.

Another point FOR short kick offs anecdotally.

I really feel like teams get more penalties inside their own 20 early in the count. I'd love to see how many penalties a team gets when they start their set on the 30/40 line in their half as opposed to working it deep from their own end.

I reckon it's a very good tactic.

It is a very good tactic and should be used more often when we are NOT desperate.

I think another good point is that teams only do it when they are desperate, so its not like there is that element of surprise that would go missing if teams did it all the time.
