Short of Props.

Its not really depth when theyre all yet to debut in NRL(bar Groat) ..

The flipside of the coin Ink, is that's it's difficult to buy seasoned FG props just to play them in reggies (so to speak). A few of these kids have plenty of talent and I prefer to see the Tigers give the up and coming youth a go, rather than buying a seasoned veteran who isn't good enough to hold down a regular FG spot.

Why would they be played in reserves?

Nowadays it seems clubs are pushing youth thru at a rapid rate, banking and relying on them…..when not too long ago natural attrition and the games occupational hazards saw potential youth get their chance....its not that difficult to purchase them, you just have to want to get them, we seem to have never really been in this mindset much

I saw Groaty grabbing a feed at wests leaumeah last week and he looks lean and mean compared to the last time i saw him. Still a big unit but looks like he hsa changed his body shape a bit to be a bit more upper body and a bit less middle and leg so to speak.

Looks like he's started to go from a kid carrying some weight to a very solid man

Sounds like he is taking things seriously. Love for him to prove some harsh naysayers wrong.

Ava Seumanufagai would be the first choice for mine

Taqele Naiyaravoro probably later in the year. Bigger and more destructive then Fifita was and a far superior attitude

x2

with Buchannan, Fotuaika, Brown, Vela, Sue, and Groat should be enough depth.

Go Tigers

If we can keep Woods,Keefy,Bell and Blair (Played as a prop, he look so much more useful when we play him in the middle of the ruck both in attack and defence ) on the field we should be able to sucessfully rotate the youngers blokes around them and have a solid pack

We have to build for the future and if we can get through 2013 we should be fine in the future

Apart from Brent Kite, who else is there that would hold down a fg spot in the tigers? For whatever reasons wrests tigers have decided to go with youth, and personally I think it is the right way to go.

If they had their house in order they wouldnt have left recruiting until the very last minute with only one player remaining off contract…THAT is partly what Im talking about, also Happy just touched on another concern.....

If we lost any of the first three quoted for any length of time were where we found ourselves last year...I really dont rate Bell as a prop....hes a poor mans Gibbs in D and thats it...we need more Go4wood-->>

We are most definetly 2 props short for 2013.

The kids look good, but in terms of front rowers they are green, not fully developed and a lot softer than the seasoned hard nosed fellas they will come up against every week.

Sheens didnt like props for some stupid reason and unfortunately Potter has inherited this side that is banking on a couple of these young guns being as good as Woods….next year! Woodsey is an anomalie. It takes years to develope a prop who can mix it consistently every weekend. I would predict Blair will play a lot of front row next season.

Considering we are packed to the gills in the backrow (as usual), that isn't a bad option.

hooray at last i have some support on our lack of props ok we have woods and a few big kids who are not ready yet ,have we any cash left because there are two panther props who may be available with gus goulds love of big keith perhaps we can do swap .

Gordon, why do you want to swap Galloway? It is not that long ago he represented NSW Also are you aware they in quite a number of games last year he played with an injury to his foot?

You have hardly been a lone voice of reason about our prop situation.

When did Vela become a prop? I would have thought second row at best. He didn't look very big or solid when I saw him and that was before his injury.

Can anyone confirm his regular position?

Vela is a backrower (and very good)

I think alot relies on keeping woods and Galloway fit. No one else we have is ready to play big minutes.

That siad Buchannen, Groat and Fotuakia seem to be very good 3rd and 4th props in the rotation and next year, but not ready for big minutes or week on week footy. Id rotate the 3 of them through giving them regular breaks playing one or 2 of them a week, keeping them fresh and not burning them, yet building experience.

Pre the T'eo hit, Graot was quite good in his first stint, but the second stint he would fall away, by the 5 or 6th game of biggish minutes you'd could tell it was taking its toll.

I think it could be a lesson on what to avoid for the other youngsters.

He is available - For those that dont remember him here is a quote from his Wiki page:

Laurie had been released from his contract with the Tigers and was facing criminal proceedings at the time, having been charged for allegedly assaulting his girlfriend, although the charge was later dismissed.
After joining the Panthers, Laurie made comments to the press that were critical of Wests Tigers and coach Tim Sheens. He stated that he, "never felt welcome" and, "it was nothing but negative at the Tigers." He made his debut for the Panthers in the 12-6 loss to the New Zealand Warriors at CUA stadium, after missing the first 17 rounds of the season due to, "niggling injuries." After this lone appearance, he missed the next training session with the club and was dropped back to NSW Cup. He ended up making 3 appearances for the season.
After the end of the 2010 season, Laurie joined the Saint-Gaudens Bears for a short term contract, to get some match experience before the start of the next season.
However, upon Laurie's return to Australia, he was not given a release to play for the Panthers, with a dispute with his French club over damage to a car. On 19 June 2011, Laurie was sacked from the Panthers for disciplinary reasons, having been accused of drinking on a flight to New Zealand to play a match for the Windsor Wolves. Laurie said of the matter, "Gus just called me out at training at around 2pm, and bang: "You gotta go, mate - hopefully, you can find another club.
