Quick question with all the different broadcasting, commentary and post match analysis, did anyone bring up the idea of Luke Brooks playing origin?

Heard Gordy on MMM say mid game that NSW should pick him

Honestly deserves to be the 7, bit selfish as fans that the only reason we don’t want him playing is so he can play for us.

The bloke is the form 7 of the comp and after everything deserves it, would mean a lot to the kid too and give him that confidence and make him a better player

Thoughts?

Not too sure about this year. If he continues to prove himself week in week there is no doubt in my mind he will be the 7 for NSW next year.

No, I think Maloney should be chosen. He is also going very well at 7 and he has big game experience. I'm suspecting that there might already be quite a few debutantes in the team, so an experienced half is essential, imo. If Luke keeps playing like he is this season, his time will come.

Not yet,he’s played a few good games I.e 5 or 6 over a few years need to see more consistency imo. Everyone wanted him punted instead of the other 3 who left so give him time.

Not this year - he’s in great form but let they build over a long time and then pick him. Has to be Maloney this year. - every player Fitter has talked up as a potential origin player has gone to crap this year as well so just let Luke do his thing.

Absolutely not.

Benji was ask this in the pressa

I was preying he’d say the reason Brooks is in the form of his career is his surroundings

Coach teammates etc

None of these blokes are in the Blues squad

As everyone else has said - not this year. He's only recently come into form, let him continue finding his feet and time will tell.

Agree on Maloney. He has the big game experience and is in form.also think green will be 6 as he has been playing well. Jack bird is a smokey.
Brooks has no big game experience and his good form has been great but not over a full season

No. Its taken him a few years to find his feet and one of the big things Benji put it down to is his surroundings. The last thing we, or NSW need is for his confidence to be shattered. As others have said, keep the form up and his time will come.

No, he has had two good games in 5yrs. I would be happy with Maloney. Nsw must be a good chance this year if he picks the right team.

He is STARTING to hit his straps has a way to go before an Origin call up …yesterday’s performance has to be produced every week , Luke has had enough pressure being put on him since entering grade ! Let the guy build and enjoy his footy then Origin in the future could be a possibility.

No doubt he's in career best form but he's not ready for origin yet.
If he keeps playing like he has been for the rest of the season and starts next season the same way, then we can have this conversation.

Stuff nsw …they are a lost cause, have been for years

I'm happy to be seeing him play well for us,that's all that matters to me

What's wrong with you guys, how can you be putting pressure this on brooks. Even Ivan said it yesterday. I'm going to write to Ivan and tell him to stop. 😜

But seriously I said a couple of weeks ago he was playing him self into contention.

Like most and selfishly I want him in our side but I think it's great that we have players in our team that are being considered for rep honoures.

Just out of curiosity, everybody says Luke isn't ready for origin and Maloney should be #7 for the Blues. But what does Brooks have to do to deserve an origin call-up?

The last two games he has has been the best player on the field. Brooks's game (to me) really started to improving at the back end of last year. I think there was a game or two last year when most people on here gave him a 3 (in the 3,2,1's). Playing next to Lolohea he started to come into his own, but while he had games games ( or parts of games) he didn't dominate or own the game until now. I never thought he was sub par player. It has taken years for him to get to this level but playing with hamstring and lower leg issues did set him back last year.
As for SOO, too early (iMO). Maloney should be given the 7 with a genuine 6 next to him.
If Maloney gets injured in between now and SOO, then Brooks, Pearce, A Reynolds ect will be fighting it out for the 7\. It's good for Brooks that his name is being mentioned. Ivan was asked in the press conference and said he name should be in the discussion.

Simple, keep doing what he's doing now for a little longer than just 4 matches. To talk about a player being ready for Origin after only a handful of decent games is jumping the gun, imo. Perhaps if there was no other half in the comp firing, he could be considered, but Maloney is firing at the moment, as well as Brooks, if not better.
