Should Pascoe stand down if the players walk?

I'm struggling to see what he has achieved since being at the club… From my understanding, the improvement in the financial circumstances at the club is a result of Go & the Board.

He needs to secure strong leadership in all departments from the front office to the football operations.

We will only know if this has been achieved by results on the field!

I refuse to call them the big 4\. As it stands Tedesco and Woods are the only ones who have shown they are worth keeping this year. But i digress.

I said in January that it was going to take one hell of a stuff up from there if the club didn't tie these guys up. We're almost in April now, Pascoe has given them a deadline (never a good sign) and now the Dogs rumour is gaining monentum. Did Pascoe catch wind of the Dogs deals and demand an answer either way? If talks were going well why would he issue an ultimatum?

So should he fall on his sword if we are unable to retain who we want? Idk about anyone else but i would have zero confidence in him going forward given the players mantra has always been "stick together". Tedesco has even called for them to not think about money. How could our club possibly stuff these negotiations up?

Written by a long time Pascoe advocate. I'm starting to think he's nothing but bluster.

Lenny is not up to the CEO gig. His lack of action and handling of the media for some time now speaks for itself. He has achieved nothing to speak of we have our players off contract, mishandled the Farah situation and sacked the coach when he should have a year earlier. It's not entirely his fault he reports to a chair who has no authority and zero experience.

He can redeem himself if we resign players and get Cleary who he has a good working relationship with. It's all about results and they are bad.

Pascoe has overseen the removal of Farah and axing of Taylor…

His comments on deadlines yet no rush due diligence etc in the Media are baffling to say the lest...talks the CEO speak well I guess...at this stage no different to his predecessors..

What i also found alarming about Juatin Pascoe is that we talk about being professional etc etc which i totally agree with but during the press conference to announce Taylors dismissal with Go he was unshaven with no tie. Basically on a huge announcement for the club he looked like he just got out of bed.
You may think that's trivial but to me it said a lot.
5 minutes for a shave and to put on a tie. Professionalism at its worst.
And i apologise if it's been said before I'm in the US and trying to catch up with everything

The reason why the "Big 4" haven't signed yet is because they don't know who the coach is. A good decision on their behalf to wait and see who will steer the ship. I think once a coach is announced you'll see some pretty fast movements. I'm willing to bet deals have been, whether with us or else where but when you're deciding your future you want to make sure you have explored every avenue.

Our team is not performing on the park, let's sack everybody! Look there's another figurehead in Pascoe - sack him! He didn't sack the coach fast enough, that's a sackable offence. Stability? Who cares about that it's all about accountability and the only way anyone can ever be accountable is through more sacking. Top quality candidates will be lining up to be the next sacrifical lamb for the sacking.

I have mixed views on this but tend to agree that the stumbling block has been the coach rather then Pascoe's ability to negotiate the contracts. In many area's Pascoe can claim achievements in terms of memberships and sponsorship and attendance etc.

It's hard to think he didn't have a say in the removal of Taylor and I am hoping that his sacking is a proactive step to move forward and the fear of losing Cleary to Saints, Manly or Bulldogs forced their hand.
Once a new coach is announced the players decision either way should be pretty quick.

Moses and Brooks have been mucking us around now for nearly two seasons with the "will we or won't we" approach to the option to extend the contract last year and now this year.

As such, I have no issue with a reasonable deadline being imposed after the new coach has been announced.

People quite rightly complain that the players are wielding too much power, that there's a boys club, etc.
Pascoe is not being rushed into signing a coach just to appease these players - and nor should he. The coaching role is absolutely crucial to get right. If that doesn't fit the players agenda then so be it.
We can't have it both ways. Either we appoint the coach these players want, or we appoint the best coach for the job. (Hopefully they're one and the same).
I want this club to be here long after these particular players have moved on. The choices the club makes now re the coaching staff is critically important in getting this club into a strong position once and for all.
Let the players leave if they are too impatient to let this process unfold. If they do, to me it shows it is primarily about the money.
I mean, really, these guys are going to be paid a motza no matter where they end up playing. So, if they really want to stick tight and want to stay at the club, then surely a few more days/weeks shouldn't matter.
I totally support the management in running this club. We have had far too much of the players influencing management decisions. It stops now. And by the look of it, Pascoe is staying strong.

X2

Individual players will ultimately make their own decisions, and I think it's unfair to judge Pascoe based on whether those individuals re-sign.

Where the Tigers management will be judged will be on the strength of our rd1 roster come 2018\. If our halves walk, we need decent replacements. If they stay, we need to get them at a price that allows us to build a decent forward pack and backline around them, The pack needs to have the depth to go 80 minutes and needs to still be functioning come rd 26.

The Tigers have almost their entire squad off contract and minimal liabilities playing elsewhere (Curtis Sironen?). This is as good an opportunity as the Tigers have had in years to put a competitive side together, whether that's built around Woods, Tedesco, Brooks and Moses or with a completely fresh spine.

That will be the performance indicator of the current management.

Regardless who the CEO is they are just a puppet for the board as was the coach….they get used up and then spat out....time for the board take accountability but they wont. WEST TIGERS will never realise its full potential as long as it is run by a bunch of amateurs who are as useful as a wet paper bag....

Since Wests became the majority share and board holders, the WT Board is in the strongest position it’s ever been.

With 5 Wests board members the Board will not have infighting of the past, there will be unity and strong leadership.. They just need to ensure the majority on the board have a good mix of business and football acumen.
Go is just the chair and face of the board, she has no more or less power than anyone else…

I just want the board and ceo to but out of the football side of things. You cannot run a football team when the board are listening to the players and not the coaching staff..

Make money and build a decent training facility..

with what we will have free in next years cap i am sure we can get players who will have us better then last on the table.
Lets be real look at the table are they worth fighting to keep.

You do understand the role of the boards? They approve the broad strategic direction advocated by the CEO. It's then up to the CEO's to implement these. When these lines become blurred is when problems arise.

I hope he hangs tough and lets them walk. The way the halves are playing at the moment they'd be lucky to get a beer and pie after the match as a contract elsewhere.

Teddy is the only one worth paying overs for. I wouldn't sign Woods for the supposed $1m that Canterbury are offering. Moses is inconsistent and Brooks hasn't kicked on and I would not be too upset if either walked. If Pascoe lets them walk because they held the club to ransom he deserves our respect rather than our scorn. We've let coaches and players put us over a barrel in the past before. No more.

Yep this. We know however what some of the critical success factors are; top 8 last year and top 4 this year. Looks like they are going to need another trip to the Hunter to redo that strategic plan.

I agree on Tedesco. I think he's the type of player you keep at any cost. The other 3 can chase the money. Who in their right mind is going to offer our halves more than they are already on now. But hey, good luck to them if they get it.
