Should Teddy and Moses play a RTS/Mini role

x2 , our most exciting Footy was when Sheens was here , you hit the nail on the head the unpredictability , things like running on the 5th Tackle. Remember when we scored 20 odd points vs the Warriors a couple of years ago in N.Z with 20 minutes to go ? Why ? not playing structured Footy got us the win.
We play a boring brand now , up 5 if we are in the Red zone put a Bomb like the old Dragon style.
Moses last week did a chip over the top but the bounce didn't go his way but would of been a brilliant Try…..this is the Moses i want to see play what's in front of him .

Obviously JT has other ideas , lets give him time and judge him when he recruits his own players.

I'm not a big fan of switching players from the back to the front and vice versa

Teams will pick up when you make the change , and choose their kicking game accordingly

Can remember a hugely famous victory by the Mighty Magpies in about 1983-84 when Parra where switching Peter Sterling and Peter Taylor between fullback and halfback and Wests focussed on it and got the bikkies that day

I think back on that game and wonder what odds you would have got of Wests winning that day

I reckon they would of been about $10-$11 easy

In 1983 Wests beat Parra 9-2 in round 6\. Peter Taylor was fullback for Parra but Sterling didn't play (Ella was half back) - http://afltables.com/rl/scorers/games/1983/198304031824.html

The other three games over 1983-84 between them resulted in Parra wins.

In 1982 Wests beat Parra 19-7 and Sterling played but Taylor didn't. http://afltables.com/rl/scorers/games/1982/198205021824.html

Parra won both games in 1985…...

The team is struggling with a structured play of 5 up and kick …. One thinks when the players can Execute this complicated structure then new ones can be bought in.

Made me laugh Snake. It may be slightly more complicated than what you are alluding too or maybe they aren't executing the structure. Have more faith brother.

Our current boring play isnt the end game from Taylor, its the platform. Taylor is working on an effective consistant type game plan, to achieve field position and keep us in the arm wrestle. Its just at this point in time the on field interpretation of the plan hasnt quite gelled. There is little vision, identification of opportunity, and probing offensively. But I dont think its due to game plan, more so the way the players have interpreted the breif and how they play their version.

To put it another way… We all agree the plan seems to be go with the 4 hit ups, half gets one shot, then the bomb is put up, that has to be a fair call we all agree on, though there are many ways to achieve that.

Our on field interpretation seems to be, Robbie services the props 4 times, a half gets his token ball whether something is on or not, then the bomb goes up.

This is where vision come into play... we could still play the 4 hit ups style whether Robbie is feeding the pigs or the halves, though the more time with ball in hand of a half, the more opportunity for them to evaluate what is in front of them and either have a dig if they smell an opportunity, or revert to the plan and feed a pig be it a little wider of the ruck. Its as if we havent yet got a grasp of identifying options and are way too rigid and predictable. There are many ways to skin the same cat.

Without a doubt I believe Moses and Brooks have more of a licence to play than we think they do, but its the on field interpretation of the style of play handcuffing them the most.

think teddy defends and attacks better than moses at fullback.

as for the attack, i think we need something more creative inside the opp 20\. 5/8, halfback and fullback no matter who's where are all important to the attack and JT just needs to come up with better plays coz the forwards are doing a good job and getting us in a good position.

also, farah needs to be given a little bit more of a running role from DH or encouraged to pass it in front of the halves to make them run.

I agree. Plus we have been getting dominated the last few games (Warriors, Roosters, Newcastle). We haven't had much punch from our first few rucks which doesn't give the halves much time or space. Also, our field position has been poor and there seems to be only a full license to attack outside the channel when we are in good attacking positions.

I think the interesting thing is Moses has a higher % effective defence then Tedesco now they play different positions but still Moses makes more of his tackles then Tedesco so if it was for defence then we might not gain

Well said.'Brilliant.. If we are to win a comp they have to master JT's game plan. i have no doubts they will but it will take time.the benji touch footy we used to play is finished and i really don't want to see it again..

Hardly a fair comparison, Tedesco has to attempt the 1 on 1 tackle when the break's already been made. Most of Moses' tackles are on forwards who run straight into him on purpose.

Seriously, there is no comparison between Tedesco and Moses.
Moses is struggling with everything at the moment, and with any other club would not be in first grade. And that's not a shot at the kid. He's simply been pushed too high, too soon

More than one team has a weakness but we aren't a strong team, and we have Two targets

Its really open to interpretation and basically comes down to if you have bought into Taylors hype or are a skeptic.

I see a side who have been told to have a real crack and throw the kitchen sink at them ONCE you get down the other end.

Trouble is the way we are trying to get down the other end is through very basic one out runs that any decent team simply has to muscle up to and we become ineffective and never get into decent field position.

As for platform, we had a good platform last year for a new coach to build on. Big experienced forwards, smart halves, huge bench. Worked ok when we werent decimated by injury.

Taylors decision and Taylors decision alone to strip it back and start again.

Rookie mistake as he misread the squad strengths and failed to understand the frustration and worn patience of the long suffering Wests Tigers fan.

He could have hit the ground running, instead the fan base is split with half out for blood.

They need something to spark them. Tedesco has been just as average as Moses at times this yr. idk what it is, but he's not the same player he was last yr

TITG,I understand what you are saying about stripping the team and starting again,we all knew that something had to be done with the overpaid and overrated players we had…
Having said that,we are a team that used to throw caution to the wind and played the game how we seen it...now we have so many young and talented players who need to be shown what the NRL is all about and a more structured game plan needs to be adhered to...

As frustrating as it may be the key word these days for the WTs is patients...I know what your going to say,how bloody long do we have to be patient ? Well let's just give JT the benefit of doing his job and coaching this young side, because if it comes to fruition we will all be really happy,if it doesn't then I think heads will roll, and not just in the playing and coaching roles..

In answer to your comment re" half the fan base looking for blood"...I honestly think they want results not blood, but to be honest, the key word here is they are disappointed that this very talented team seems to be underachieving considering the multitude of potential it contains....

TITG,we are all feeling a little despaired at the moment, just have a bit more patients and see what happens by years end, then mate we can all cut loose on who ever we feel needs a good serve....cheers mate....

Im all for a strong end to the year. I expect it and can see it building.

Not about to write us off.

Also i wont comment on the waiting line you thought i might but one point i have to make is that the simplest way to teach young kids about whats required at NRL level is to have them play with experienced NRL players.

Once again, Taylors decision to move on all that experience and start from scratch.

First and foremost, I simply want to be able to enjoy watching the game, basically be entertained. Winning is secondary.
