SHOULD THE TIGERS RE SIGN MOLTZEN ?

We need a halfback desperately and Moltz is not a halfback. There was another thread about already having signed a half back for 2013\. I hope its Cooper Cronk.

It's never a good idea to go back might be time for Benji to let go.

slightly off topic, but I just went back and looked at Half & Five Eighth combinations that were world class and playing at the same club… I had to go back as far as 1994 to find 6\. L Daley & 7\. R Stuart.

Bloody Salary Cap!

Langer and Walters ???????? Fittler and Lam ???????????

benji and j.morris
benji and fitzhenry
t.smith and porter

No, and not just beacause he hasn't shown anything over the last few weeks. I think we could use his money with that of Lote's and Ellis' and buy one or two marquee players. I'm realy interested to see how Humble would go in the 7 jumper

Yep, agree with this on all counts. Unless Moltzen is playing fullback, he is just a passenger in this team and even then there are probably better options for fullback.

I've never met the guy, so I can't really say what he is like, but I lost a lot of respect for him with the way he carried on during the St George saga - I mean, not returning a bloke's phone calls for a month because he was too frightened to tell him he had changed his mind - really, how bloody disrespectful! Did he just think it would all go away if he ignored their calls? Not to mention the petulant behaviour if he doesn't get his own way, on and off the field - makes one want to puke. I couldn't care less if he was with WT or not next year, tbh.

No. He has given the club no reason to. I think they have run out of positions to try in him, at least I hope they have.

Was going to say Joey and Matty for a laugh

Lam has won an Origin series  and he is Qlder (in a roundabout way ) He fits the bill

Of course we want Cronk or DCE…..you dont have to be a genius mathematician to work out that fitting in Farah, Marshall, Blair and either DCE or Cronk does not leave much left for everyone else in the cap.
In short the odds of us signing 1 of those 2 is roughly the same as Magda Szubanski winning Miss universe.

What are you saying Goose You don't think Madga is a good sort Well if she was chosen to represent our planet and everything else in the Universe is a even bigger dog ….... I choose Cronk

I sent him a PM reminding him I stated "World Class". Neither Walters or Lam ever fitted that category, but I realised he gave Walters a plug as he is a old Ipswich Jets boy…

Oh well, if Moltzen can achieve the heights of either, I'll be happy!

As I said Watto my old mate Kevvie did win us a world cup with his beautiful ball to another old combatant Steve Renouf against the Poms

Anyway Kevvie would make a better commentator than Laurie

And Moltz as a halfback will struggle to reach the heights of Andrew Walters Watto

Yes I know Andrew was a lock ,thats the point

On current form no, but I would give him half a season at halfback before making that call.

Agree. I think it is too early to decide. Still don't think he is a half back. I have a feeling we will re sign him and lose Miller. There is some very good young halves in the junior grades at our club, I just hope one of them becomes the next DCE.

As others have said I don't think we are any hope of signing DCE or Cronk. It is a pity as I feel that Cronk would be just the type of player we could do with.

The tigers should retain Moltzen and play him at fullback. He was all class in that position last year. Sheens should return him there, and he will solve this dilemma. Problem is Sheens, a few months back, rated him a SOO halfback, so well have to wait now till it happens.

He was good at fullback for the last 9 weeks or so of the comp. Unfortunately he has started this year like he started last year…The less said the better at the moment.

Yes, he displayed loyalty to us, will further his representative career, is a versatile young player and has proven what a talent he is when given time in a position. I know TM will continue to improve at halfback over the course of the season. All the baggers will end up with egg on their faces just like they did when he started playing fullback last year. Go Weststigers!

If Moltzen can improve as halfback as much as he did as a fullback we should wait and see , but if he can't Miller should be next in line unless we pick someone else of far better quality

I feel if we after a McCrone or someone along those lines we are far better off sticking with Miller if Moltzen fails

yes. Give the guy a chance. He needs to play at least a dozen games at half before any discussion about his future. He was good enough to stay with us last year when we needed him back after the Lui thing. All i am saying is give moltz a chance.(sounds like a song)
