Police have stormed Martin Place in a flurry of gunfire as up to seven hostages were seen running from the Lindt cafe where they had been held for 17 hours. A group of hostages initially ran from the cafe. Minutes later, two more men and two women raced outside and were directed away by police. Their escape was followed by 10 seconds of rapid gunfire as heavily-armed police stormed the cafe in numbers, managing to release others. A woman, apparently middle-aged, was carried from the scene injured. A second volley of shots erupted before the cafe filled with police and paramedics. A bomb disposal robot was sent into the cafe by police.

I have just read that this evil bastard is well known for sending abusive letters to the families of soldiers killed in Afghanistan.Surely he should have been thrown in jail or deported for threatening behaviour.Unfortunately our governments seem tied by political correctness and human rights for these people but have only sympathy for the poor hostage that lost their life.Deepest condolences to the family concerned.

Sounds like 4 people are four in hospital. One is a police officer who has gunshot pellets in his face. A woman shot in the shoulder. Not sure about the state of the other two hostages. But it looks like the gunman is dead.

Two hostiages have died. Police didn't storm the cafe until shots were fired from inside the cafe.
Police are staying the attack wasn't by an organised terror organisation. Just by a lone mentally disturbed cleric. Hopefully they is no backlash the wider Muslim community.

Sad news that two of the hostages were killed, thoughts are with their families. Top shelf job by the cops to ensure there were no more fatalities.

Interesting to note the arsehole was a Shiite. Strange that he would associate himself with Islamic State, they'd wipe him like a dirty arse.

Anyway, hoping everyone can keep themselves in check today and don't go off giving innocent people a spray over the actions of one psychopath.

Yes, no doubt he should of been incarcerated in jail instead of being let off on bail while he awaits his court appearance in February. Hindsight now highlights what a terrible decision it was by the magistrate to grant bail.

I fear these jihadists and Islamists will continue there Sicko acts . During the siege, hostages had been forced to display an Islamic flag, igniting fears of a jihadist attack. This is Australia FFS a peaceful Country who has opened there hearts and has given Refugees an opportunity for a new life.
It's not fair and feel sorry for the legitimate Refugees who have welcomed the opportunity for a new life and have adopted our Australian values .
