Agree CB. There's alot of unbalanced people out there and it doesn't take much to send them over the edge. And this lone gunman was one of them. Feel very sad for the victims families :frowning:

You are talking crap now AHX…the innocent who got killed was just working his job and the vermin that committed the crime wasn't interested in having a coffee. It could of happened in any building, in anyone's workplace.
 
Such a sad event. Were we Sydneysiders naive enough to think we wouldn't be attacked? We have it so well here. Hopefully it's the last.

This gutless coward seemed a dangerous combination of religious radical and street criminal. Sexual charges, allegations of murder and sending letters to the families of dead soldiers. He was a self confessed cleric that had few if any supporters. How was he out on bail? I know we don't want people to become institutionalized but he's range of crime was very concerning reading it afterwards. We have to be better here. Jill McMahn was also killed by a murderer on bail. We need to get this right!

Much respect to our police force. I think they did very well not giving the ISIL death-cult any more publicity then what they got. This is what this group craves. They were able to get out or stay patient enough for the majority of hostages to leave. Acting early when the situation wasn't known could have been very dangerous. I suspect the coward being by himself meant time was on the police's side. It sounds like they only acted once the manager pounced for the gun. Tori Johnson and Katrina Dawson are the names we must remember. They were brave to their end.

Losing 2 hostages is the cold harsh reality. Two Sydneysiders didn't make it home after work. We hurt as a city but the vast majority have not let this act get the better of us. The i'llridewithyou twitter movement is excellent and a simple show of compassion for people who will be as hurt as disgusted as the rest of us but may feel ill feelings from the scared and uneducated. I've seen little religious hatred online which is very pleasant to see after being concerned this could be quite ugly.

We must continue our lives as that's what these people don't want. But we must address our bail laws. Too many crimes by people out on bail of late.

I'm not referring to Muslims in general but all these extremists groups..

My grandparents and father come from Lebanon and escaped these very groups for a better life in Australia once they begun destroying their country. Now they've followed them here and are attempting to do the same to Australia and it's people.

They rape, torture and behead anyone regardless of their age, as long as they don't believe in their sickening ways then its ok to commit these crimes against humanity.

They show no mercy, so why should our government. They need to come down hard on them otherwise i assure you these sick people will continue to perform acts of terror on Australian soil.
They don't fear death and that in itself is a very scary proposition..

May the two hostages killed rest in peace, a truely tragic event..

Very good post Tony.Sadly the most dangerous people in this land of the last 30 years has been that Political correct group that has infiltrated the left of politics and have put in policies that have allowed such a ground swell of these buffoons to enter Australia.We are blessed in this nation with the amount of great work the migrants have contributed in making this land great but as you are all too aware Tony with your families experiences abroad with crazed islamist extremists back in the civil war in Lebanon of the early 80's sadly not all migrants come here with the intentions to assimilate(but the vast majority are good people and try to assimilate).The corridors of power within Australia be it the Law makers,Labor/greens politicians or the numerous brainwashed america/Australia hating uni students that become the sole brain controllers of our childrens futures facading as school teachers for too long have had a mentality of "white guilt".I know you are of Lebanese extraction mate and I also know you are a good bloke who calls a spade a spade but for some reason there is a white anglo saxon element who seems to be very talented in finding itself in the corridors of power in this nation and they forever seem hell bent on destroying every little bit of the fabric of Australian culture that both you and I hold dear to our hearts mate as they blindly blame the white man for all the worlds problems.
 
Apart from a pic that a complete dead beat of a woman shared on my facebook page saying ''ATTENTION ALL MUSLIMS'', then going on to say how Aussies are prepared to fight back, i have to say i'm pretty impressed with how the majority of people have treated this situation and not directing hate towards an entire race or religion.

Still can't shake the feeling of waking up at 6 this morning, turning on the tv and seeing the headline ''3 people dead'', and seeing the footage of the police storm the building. It gave me a sick feeling in my stomach, that i'm still carrying around 12 hours later. If it had just happened quickly, while its still horrible, i don't think it has the same affect as it would when its gone for hours and been televised. You become absorbed in it and emotionally invested. Was an awful thing to wake up to.

Also great to see Rupert Murdoch's priorities were in the right place congratulating his toilet paper rag for their exclusive coverage. No mention of the victims, just that it was ''Sydney's wake up call''. I might have spoke too soon this morning in saying there aren't many people you'd be glad to see rotting in hell. 'm on a roll today, one down, and Rupert can join him in for all i care.
 
The thing that I cannot come to terms with is why are some petty criminals refused bail while this repeat offender monster was given only community service for his second most recent offence (relating to a murder) and then given bail until a court appearance for his most recent alleged sexual offences which up to 10 women were prepared to testify against him?
