There are reports of 5 Taliban suicide bombers also armed with automatic weapons attacking a school in Pakistan with over 100 children dead. Humans can do some downright disgraceful things at times. It's why we have to do as much positive as we can.

UPDATE: 130 dead, mainly children, in Pakistan school carnage

Taliban militants have stormed a school in Pakistan, killing at least 82 children. (AAP)

Taliban insurgents have killed at least 130 people, most of them children, after storming an army-run school in Pakistan.

Witnesses described how a huge blast shook the Army Public School in the northwestern city of Peshawar and gunmen went from classroom to classroom, shooting children.

important to keep some perspective, this stuff happens in less fortunate countries on a monthly/yearly basis.

I hope they get charged to fullest extent for profiteering. As I understand it the Uber service is actually illegal.

it's illegal in australia, cause its a nanny state. simple supply and demand in reality. if you had 100 L of water & some food and for some reason everyone else's water/food got contaminated for the next week would you just give it away for $0.10 a litre or whatever the normal tap water price is? i really doubt it…

Seems pretty clear now that the man who lost his life, Tori Johnson, died trying to disarm that moron while he was trying to shoot the other hostages as they were escaping.
**MR JOHNSON YOU ARE A HERO**

Agreed wholeheartedly.

Channel 9 are saying Tori was executed as the gutless lunatic coward was losing control. What a sad day in Sydney's history this was.

I don't know if I'd call him 'brave' Happy. His actions got himself and another hostage killed. No one was getting hurt at all until he tried to wrestle the gun from the gunman. Can't be too harsh I suppose, people are stressed and don't really weigh up the consequences of their actions in these situations, but sorry, I think he made a bad decision.

Guess you should do more research before posting next time

Either way , still makes you think how we would react in these situations

Hopefully , no forum member ever will be , but when you are in the service industries , anything can happen

For flippedy , considering he wasn't in the cafe at the time , to say this guy's action got himself and another hostage killed is ridiculous. The gunmans action got them killed.

So from what i can piece together, the guy was falling asleep (the fact he fell asleep is pathetic really. Fighting for Allah and can't even stay awake) the hostages saw that as their moment to flee, he comes to, panics, tries to shoot them and the manager sacrificed himself? The balls the manager had were made of steel. And from what i understand, it was a heart attack that killed the lady. I was watching the live footage on youtube this afternoon, and it looked and sounded horrific. Can't even imagine being in the middle of it.

Hey guys, this was an absolute tragedy, two innocent people lost their lives because of some radical criminal…

Tori in his own mind tried to save the hostages,a split second decision...who knows, however we weren't there and don't know exactly what was happening in the cafe.
There is no good speculating on what may have been..it is done and let's try to prevent this sort of thing happening again..

Once again an absolute tradgedy in our wonderful multicultural nation.....

If in that moment he did what he did knowing what the outcome would be and knowing he'd save everyone's else's lives in the process, who is anyone to judge? Its not a bad legacy to leave behind, going out a hero.

Like TT says , we can speculate till the cows come home . Speculation will just continue whether he was right or wrong doing what he did ?
But to me and in my eyes Tori Johnson will go down as a TRUE HERO and someone you would want next to you in the trenches . Rest In Peace mate and Katrina Dawson you are a Hero as well the Bravery you shown putting your own life at risk while Shielding a friend and the Baby she was carrying is just as Heroic .
It gives me great sadness to think that there Family members will not have a care in the World about Christmas .
There both Heroes in my eyes , don't try and convince me otherwise . R.I.P.
The Police Force and the Federal Force need to be Congratulated for there prompt reaction and more than likely for there quick action saved many more .

RIP

Maybe not as individuals, but collectively the authorities have a lot to answer. Putting aside the fact that he never should have been out of custody, they knew reasonably early in the piece who they were dealing with, a radical individual with a history of instability and violence.

At about eleven o'clock that morning, during a conversation similar to that which others on here would of been having, I said to a contractor that if it drags on, tiredness would come into it and that is when things go wrong.

As a community, it seems we were let down on many levels, and there is no point deploying snipers if they are not going to be used.

Snipers were being used, they were surveillance.

The only person that let these hostages down was the magistrate that felt 40 outstanding sex offences and being on trial for an accessory to murder wasn't reason enough to refuse this lunatic bail.

The cops did a top job in ensuring more hostages were killed. Remember they were working for a peaceful solution, not bloodshed.

This guy may have been crazy but he was very cunning in his ability to avoid incarceration for his association, accessory or possibility 100% involvement, with the murder of his ex-wife.
