We would only be risking 50k on Kirisome Auva'a
We are already risking 250k relying on Matt Ballin being fit

Ballin will be fit come round 1

Ballin could be fit it is far from certain. take your glasses off gnr4life.Having said that i hope and pray you are right

He posted a pic on Instagram or whatever rubbish players use these days with a caption. I forget what it said, but it implied that he was on track for round 1.

Matt Balin was on fox sports the other night with Billy Woods and he said that he would be right to go for a preseason game.

They probably took unders as well..

All players do this now at clubs other than ours. We always have to pay massive overs.

Tedesco stayed for less. Have you heard of him?

I was being sarcastic. Of course players will stay for less and of course we can get players if we pay market rates.

We aren't this terrible team with everything against us despite what some pessimistic supporters want to think.

I think people are nervous about Ballin because it took him so long to get on the field last yr. It was because there were complications in his recovery, There has been no sign that he's not on the road to being 100% by round 1\. He was injured halfway through the yr. So that plus the off season will give him ample time.

It's not a rumour, but a reality. Both Greg Inglis and Adam Reynolds have committed to Souths after their signing of Robbie Farah. While they're not attributing that decision to Robbie's signing, it seems to indicate they see a future at Souths with Robbie being there. Compare that to the vibe emanating from Concord on Robbie's (supposedly negative) influence on the future of our club. Where's the truth I wonder?

The truth?

Try money.

I dont think its nerves about getting on the field in round 1\. Its about can his knees hold up to last more than a game or 2.

Charlie Taylor to debut on wing?

I wouldn't be against Taylor getting a red hot go in the pre season. He is strong on his feet which is essential for wingers bringing the ball out of their own end, is quick and has that football instinct. Being only 21 I think he will fill out into his body a bit more too so could be a solid option.

We have to do something, another year of Rankin plodding up and down the wing won't get us near the 8.

At this stage we'll only be replacing him with another plodder, so it's not going to make us any better on that wing. And Rankin kicks goals, taking pressure off Moses. Might as well stick with him.

I would love to see young Charlie T get a crack on the wing. Strong, quick. Hard to catch him running in space with the ball. He has toughness and a good footy brain, great in attack as well as defense. Australian league schoolboy, rugby winger, knows the specialised position well and can play / cover the whole backline if need be which is good for the team. Apparently Australia rugby 7s are chasing him as well. Prop Wesley Lolo is another favourite of mine, big, tough and can break the line like a hot knife through butter. One of the best young props going around that I have seen

Our back five could be
Fullback: Tedesco
Centres: Simona & Idris
Wings: Kevin N & David N
With Charlie Taylor a super-sub on the bench

Just worried whether Idris can be focused and concentrate in centre for for 80 minutes. If he is focused great, if not his poor defensive misses could prove very costly.

He might need a break so he doesn't have concentration lapses during the 2nd half. Then Taylor can come on for the last half hour or so and showcase his skill.

P.S. Can Charlie Taylor goal-kick?

A quiet late signing for us. Plays on the wing but can play anywhere in the backline. Played half the season in our NSW Cup

I would have Charlie T and David N as my wingers. It's a specialised position. Kevin N is not a winger and his defense is no good and would be worse on the wing

Would you have Kevin N in centre or give him the boot?

First problem is that Kev, as good as I think he is - is NOT a winger. I do not understand why people want to put him there. If he is not wanted in the NRL team as a centre, then he has to be dropped to reggies.

Second problem is that Idris is a real bad signing if a centre can't play 80 minutes to start with.
A centre on the bench is real bad because he can play centre and maybe wing - Super Sub he is not.

At least Rankin can play at least 4 or 5 positions.

Taylor is certainly (if he can kick goals), no better than Rankin or Moses.

Maybe the scenario is Kev stays in the centre with Idris, and Simona to the wing - that should stop is brain explosions for awhile. Super sub starts in Reggies and Rankin to the bench. Just a thought.
