damn :deadhorse:

Well that sucks. We cant afford him! Gee we must be paying plenty for some of our current players.

We could afford him but it leaves nothing left over. He's on too much money for a centre.. Martterson, mono and Musgrove wouldn't be on heaps..

So how much do you think he is on? Just curious.

$600k-$700k from a foxsprots article earlier in the year.

Yeah I would've had him pegged at about that, he'd come off 2 very good years at Souths, they were signing him as a 5/8 and Manly were pretty reckless in their spending at the time.

We must be paying overs for some players in our team if we cant afford a player like Walker. I'd love to know how other teams e.g. Panthers, Roosters and Broncos manage their cap. Even Newcastle are starting to build a solid team and I cant help but feel we will be left behind yet again.

I can't understand how the club was talking about signing a speedy centre and an agressive forward and all we have is Musgrave, no Dylan Walker and only one CAP space left.

The ridiculous thing is the club has plenty $$$ CAP money left but with only one CAP space left they are still having big problems in building a competitive team. Maybe the club should pay players like McQueen, Rochow and Oliver Clake, their redundancy payout immediately thereby making a total of four CAP spaces available for new class forward/backs. for this season

If this doesn't happen I have doubts that the club will be competitive in 2019\. After what Cleary did to the club this season and got away with, it is clear that that morally, anything goes in the NRL.

IMO the re signing of Benji and to a lesser extend Farah was madness considering how many vacant position we had in our roster. I get the feeling the club was banking on moving a few players on and there has been no club willing to help us out.
Anyway were now a left in a position with one space available and a roster that on paper seems to have some real problem areas still unresolved

Absolute madness especially with the head coaching position unresolved at that time.

Cleary got us real good.

We needed another hooker in the squad. If it hadn't been Farah then it would've been another hooker like Segeyaro or maybe Isaac Luke. His re-signing doesn't really impact on the squad balance. Same with Benji. We needed a backup half. If it hadn't been Benji then it would've been someone like Littlejohn or Brock Lamb. Again it doesn't really impact on squad balance.

The top 30 signings that look the least useful at this point in time are Clark and McIntyre as they both seem a long way off first grade. We did need a middle forward but we needed a better quality one than Clark - one with impact as a point of difference. We didn't need another 2nd rower/centre like McIntyre at all, we needed more depth at centre/wing…

All this complaining about our recruitment. We’ve done pretty well lately with Mbye and Matterson. Some of you just want it all.

Hey Gunners, I like a lot of what you say mate, You seem to to followed the game for some time.

To say some of us want it all….........well that's obvious, if i was a Roosters,Sharks,Broncos even a Knights supporter of late i would think my team had it all.
Success, Attractive player recruitment and financial Dominance.
Its not a crime to want our team to be on an even playing field as the big clubs.
Were a inner west Sydney team that battles with 3 or 4 other inner Sydney clubs for Members Sponsors and the generic hurdles that come with having neighbouring clubs.

Our location is not as desirable to a young man as Bondi, Newcastle City or any Clubs Scattered along the coast.
But to "want it all" is why we follow the game, if wanting it all is about putting in a bid on a player and having a real shot at luring them here than id say i do want it all lol.
We were never a shot a Cronk, Klemmer, Barba, Maloney, Gagai, Cleary or any High profile player who was at his peak in the last 2 years.
I know our club will always struggle to compete in certain area's of the game, And Mbye and Matterson are probably the 2 best signings we've had in years, But wanting a Marquee player is not asking for the mother-load its just asking for a fair go in my opinion.
Id love to see someone great come to our club and turn us into a top 4 side, to have that i think we need a top 4 player in the game.

Sorry for the rant ,
Always like reading your posts GNR, This wasn't a personal attack.

You forgot to mention how Cronulla manage their CAP. CAP cheating is rife in the NRL and very soon it will be every club in it for themselves because the lazy NRL lets the dominant cheating clubs have a free ride.

Something is brewing.

Once again i think we are caught in a complicated recruitment issue. Id say it revolves around Brooks as he is the key component. We could have asked Johnson to demand an answer from the Warriors today as they are weighing up the relative value of Brooks on big money or just giving that money to Johnson. We could also be trying to work out a Reynolds back the dogs trade. Or a McQueen, Rochow, Taylor issue.

It really is anyone's guess but i have a feeling something big will drop pretty soon.

Here we go folks, time to circle the wagons .. Shaun Johnson has asked for an immediate release from the Warriors .. !! Will we make a play for him .. !!

Reynolds back to Dogs, and we'll take Johnson for me .. !!

Who said we can't afford Walker ? I'd be amazed if that was the case. It's more likely that the club don't see him as a value for money proposition. If so, then not paying overs is smart business on the club's part.

Shaun Johnson asks for immediate release

Be careful, some may think you want it all!!

We need a marquee centre. Dylan Walker? No let’s get Momirovski.
We need a marquee prop. Klemmer? No let’s get Clark (with a silent e) and Musgrove.

I’ll be the first to put my hand up if I’m wrong but gee I’d like us to recruit one, just one, outstanding footballer.

Is "reckless in their spending" a euphemism for "Manly were cheating the cap" - which is what they were doing.

Its very difficult to remain patient…weve been patient for good recruitment for ever it seems...yes it appears to be slightly improving, could take us a while to fix our mess up.
Having 6 coaches in 6 years or whatever it is dont help

It's probably more correct to say "No let's get Musgrove", since Klemmer was not on the market when we got Clark (was Klemmer ever on the market for a Sydney club?).

And sure, a marquee prop would be great - but at any price ? If you could get three Musgroves for the price of one Klemmer, then I would take the three Musgroves.
