Pearce will do all the organizing …

Ponga just needs to get the ball and run …he is very good at that

People right Newcastle off at their own peril , they won’t win a premiership but they are around our level

Klemmer is the mistake in my opinion , big bucks for a 55 minute player who doesn’t have that Taumalolo wrecking ball style … big mistake

Will Pearce be doing Pongo's tackling as well…hope so..lots of fantasy points there

I think Knights will challenge for the top 8 if Pearce can play a full season. Titans, Wests Tigers and Knights could make the 8 with the teams they have for 2019.

He makes 181m a game over those 55 minutes and is top 3 for post contract metres - he's exactly what you want as the cornerstone of a pack. If they could buy or manufacture a quality wrecking ball to go along with him then they'd have one of the best packs in the comp.

Massively underrated forward pack. Klemmar, Glasby, Fitzgibbon, Mata'utia, Guerra, Gavet, safiti brothers. Big pack with depth!!!

Yeah but he is on more than Taumalolo and can't turn a game like Taumalolo can

My point Taumalolo is the only bloke worth that money in the game …not the wanna be Klemmer

And people forget his defensive stats ... he gets killed laterally when small players take him on

People seem to forget their are two parts to our game ...and Klemmer isn't great in that area

@happy_tiger it is the way of majority of sporting codes. If you are a struggling team or franchise you will always have to overpay salaries in order to attract and sign the better players.

Don't disagree , but you could of got a player like Leeson Ah Mau for probably half the money , but results of around 90% of Klemmer

That's when smart recruiting comes crucial

The club who I just think are going to be shocking this season are the Warriors

Players leaving left right and centre

Brian Smith ….the man continues to prove his extraordinary man management skills

Is Pongo like Momo ??

Played in the front line at SOO level without issue

But what will struggle in club land

I've always called him Pongo..I mean look at his head…and lol at Origin a lot easier with the quality players around him at that level...week in week out in the NRL different story was woeful in defence in the Allstars game..

Again you got a bloke who had maybe three training sessions with the players around him and had to share his position probably half of those sessions

This is exactly how you have to recruit but Newcastle do have a lot of quality players. It'll be interesting how they develop their squad over the next couple of seasons. I think we have a better team than last year but so do Newcastle.

Well in fairness our pack is an obvious weakness and we've done nothing to improve it. The one player with mongrel (Sue) we let go. We have no metre eating forwards that bend the line.

All big forwards struggle when fast, small players manage to isolate them, espeically when they're tired. Taumalolo falls victim to that more often than Klemmer because Taumalolo invests about 85% of his energy into his runs. Klemmer has always been a better defender than Taumalolo both statistically and to the eye. Seems like you just don't like the bloke.

You also can't just use the logic that "if Taumalolo is on $x then nobody else is worth as much unless they're as good as or better than him". Different players are worth different amounts to different clubs at different points in time. The Knights have lacked a forward pack leader for many years - Klemmer is worth a lot to them.

If Zane Musgrave is allowed to play and Thomas Mikaele play in the same side, well have enough fire power to bend lines back. Think of our pack like this Matulino and Packer starting with Matterson, Lawrence ,maybe Taylor or Eisenhuth .. then having Twal, Mikaele, and Musgrove to come .. !! Got some old bulls softening up the defence from the start then we'll have some young mobile bucks wanting to come on and ignite some hurt. I have a funny feeling that Mats and Packer will be better for us this year.
