Signings, Suggestions & Rumours Discussion

Someone said that Zane Musgrove was still training with us, can anyone confirm?

If he is, makes you wonder if he will still get to play for us this year or next.

Has his court case been settled yet?

This was in the other thread the other day

It was from just a few days ago in the round 4 prep video posted on Friday.
He is standing behind ET during drills (7 seconds in).

### [Putting the finishing touches on Round 4 prep!](https://www.weststigers.com.au/news/2019/04/04/putting-the-finishing-touches-on-round-4-prep/)

While it might have been a short turnaround for Wests Tigers, Michael Maguire's side wrapped up their preparations with a strong session at Concord Oval on Thursday ahead of Friday's clash with Penrith.

I hope that Jayden Okunbor gets sick of playing with the puppies and looks for a new club if we are talking to his manager.

Folau isn't being sacked for his religious opinion he is being sacked because he breached his contract and the rules of his employment after previously recieving a final warning. Its straight out employment law. Now of course what he sadi was offensive but it was also stupid unless he wanted out of his contract because it was both offensive and a clearly against the rules he agreed too

I’ve always thought of Newcastle as a similar team to us. Hard-working toilers, underdogs, etc.

Even though they do make some flop signings (SKD, Moga, etc), its really frustrating to see how much more talent they attract compared to us.

The Knights picked up three consecutive spoons and stripped their salary cap bare. Of course they were able to sign lots of people - they had basically no-one on contract that cost them anything.

Anyway, it's really only Ponga that's absolutely vindicated what they've spent on him - and that was a once in a lifetime cock up from the Cowboys to lose him. Klemmer has looked great so far but that was special circumstances if stories are to be believed. Pearce is as average as we always knew, SKD is mediocre, Aiden Guerra is past it, Tim Glasby is a generic "better at Melbourne" forward we've seen thousands of times before… who am I missing? Hymel Hunt? Oh, hang on: Jesse Ramien. Yeah he should be good.

Besides, let's not forget the Knights finished below the Tigers last year and are running below us again so far this year. We'd all like some flashy signings but I'd be a bit wary about acclaiming the Knights the masters of them if the "pay off" for three spoons is basically to finish a bit below the Tigers anyway.

come on fellow tiger fans, who watched the roooters play on the weekend, again young COLLINS was great he is big fast runs hard and defends well. he and matterson in the backrow next year would be great.

I wouldn't mind scoping him up, he can believe what he wants to believe imo, as long as it doesn't impact his playing/the team I'm fine with it

If we are patient there are far bigger fish to fry at season's end

Let save our money for a better day / player than Rhyse Martin / Curtis Rona / Izzy Folau

At the end of the day it's up to Madge to make the best possible signings for the club, I'm sure we all have faith in him to satisfy us in that area

Immaterial of actually who Maguire gets to sign for the club (and whoever doesnt sign offered contracts) it will be interesting to see the type of player he gets i.e how does he want to shape the squad seeing as this will be his first chance at recruitment and retention.

I would imagine if its anything like his Rabbitohs days we will head towards a preference towards a strong pack with somewhat average but effective backs. Lords knows where he sees the halves yet as things are not yet settled on that front yet.

Edit- just checked on Zero Tackle- we only have a few long term contracted players Brooks (2023) Mbye (2022) and Matterson, Nofoaluma & Packer (2021). So in many ways he can mould the squad how the likes. I imagine this year towards end of season a few will be getting asked to test the market even if they have existing contract for another year.
