Clearly and Maguire both have coached at this club and would have implemented the standards that they believe necessary for success. I still believe the quality and attitude of individual players sets the standards on and off the field. Great players do the extras to be great and putting in the extras is an attitude. Until you get a squad where that is general consensus a coach is always going struggle.

Great resigning. Next year I’d assume he’d probably jump to Jersey Flegg, in which he’s already had a couple of appearances. I’ve said it a few times now but he will be the replacement for Olam. Great use of developmentS

I know he’s good and all, but why are we guaranteeing a top 30 spot to a young player again?

Because otherwise they don't stay and 18 in the outside backs is when most of them come into NRL and without it he goes elsewhere - he is a level of talent where he is getting lots of great offers. Our issue hasn't been guaranteeing a spot to young players it's been not to the right young players.

Believe Api is a Berala junior also, they are cousins maybe he played under 7's or something. They must have grown up there at least for some period and moved elsewhere. Fair few good players came through the bears from memory.

Although the markets apparently had the storm as favourites, I don’t think many people here thought the Panthers would go down wondering.

If they were to lose, it would’ve come down to a few errors, a missed tackle or a ref blunder.

It would never have been because they were actually incapable of winning or that they were over-awed by the occasion.

A lot has been said about their team culture and the depth of friendships.

I’d definitely be asking JL about that aspect of their club.

Forget the culture , get him to bring with him there fitness trills and there work efforts in defence , and that should be benjis 1st priority

It's not how it works anywhere - Mitchell Woods won HM player of the year in 23 and Dogs have him locked up long term too. Sport and the NRL doesent allow players of that talent to hang around junior grades just waiting to make it before you sign them to NRL contracts

His family are deeply religious and so are many players, I think we should have a chapel or “room of faith” at the white elephant for players to pray in if they want to.

We were going to have an Islamic prayer room at one of my old places of employment, but one of the managers turned it into her office.
