Signings, Suggestions & Rumours Discussion

Remember when you were saying 6 months ago they were going to pay him out and get a medical exemption from the cap? Because Phil Gould said something on Talking Footy? What happened?
The club we support is too stupid to find the same loop homes that other clubs and operators such as Phil Gould can.

so either Richo is stupid … or Phil Gould is talking crap again ? Perhaps there is a difference with Olam … he was already damaged goods when the Tigers acquired him …everyone knew except our medical staff that checked him out and said he was ok ..

You do realise that it isn’t the club that pays out the players medically but an insurance agency if the player is deemed medically unable to return to that level of play. When improved his salary is removed from the salary cap.
Tigers managed to do this with Ben Matalino, in other instances Parramatta were unsuccessful with attempting to medically retire Anthony Watmough and Rabbitohs were unsuccessful with attempting to medically retire Greg Inglis. It would go through a similar assessment path as a workers compensation claim.

It's both knees. Usually when it's both knees they don't do surgery at the same time as it messes with the rehab.

They need to take their time because if this doesn't work, we're stuck with a broken down player for 2 more years.
Really , how do we fall for this crap , don’t we have independent medicals before we sign a player, Bellamy would still be giggling that we were so stupid.

What’s delusional ? Go watch tiger town ! Go speak to some actual nrl players .
My opinion is based in facts and conversations I’ve had about this .
Great bloke . Awesome coach . Playing for him sounds like the worst . That’s what I’ve been told is the narrative around the nrl .
Does that make the players soft . Maybe . Or , as I know first hand , getting yelled at incessantly, whilst you’re giving it all , was way less constructive than a group of guys lifting each other up and driving the standards . “Let’s go boys, again “ is way different to “get up , do it again “ .
So unless you’ve actually been through both , than you’re not delusional , you’re naive and commenting on something you don’t even know .
If you need to be slave driven for motivation , than you are never going to achieve the same level as a group of guys who can do it themselves .
Sounds like your opinion is based on a cheap pay TV doco that was the brainchild of our moron former CEO.

With large gone, they may be looking at a Plan C in case Galvin doesn't extend.
Lol, not a chance

The club needs 4-5 playmakers in every single grade!

This kid wasn't deemed good enough to play for Matts or Ball for the Dragons last year. He's a nobody playing bush footy, just plugging a gap, i wouldn't be expecting much from him. He could be a late bloomer though.

Backups for Galvin are Fainu and Haywood

This...I'd say the club I'd genuinely worried
Do you realise a club like the Dogs has 2-3 top quality halves in every age group comp? They've got 6-7 genuine first grade prospects through Cup, Flegg and Ball. We basically have none other than Haywood.

Every squad needs 5 halves minimum.

Dogs were top 3 in every grade too btw

What exactly are you trying to refute with my comment?

I just said the club is genuinely worried about losing Galvin so they are adding halves which makes sense.

100% need the new guys all lined up in their tigers kits asap
Luai , Hunt , Turuva , Skelton all standing behind A kneeling down group like
API , Galvin , Latu ,
standing behind the group
Klemmer , Twal , Pole , Sam F
coaches both sides
in the new Tigers playing strip ??? If we have it sorted
You do realise that probably won't happen until after Christmas? It could happen sooner but none of those first four are due back in training until January...

Any word on major sponsor? Id be surprised if we can't pick up a good name. Anything beats Bryfart Lawyers.
It's concerning, that's for sure.

They've had almost a year to sort it out and yet still nothing. Ideally it would have been sorted a while before preseason, so the merch could be updated in time for the start of preseason

Look up the contract status of Joseph O’Neil. He is their junior HB that won the Jersey Flegg the year prior and almost got the NSWCup to the finals this year. Played 1 or two trial games off the bench for first grade at the start of the year. Not on a 2025 dev contract, not on a first grade contract but I guarantee he will be still be at the dogs next year.
Though behind him is 2024 jf winner Cassius Tia and 2024 SGball grandfinalist Mitch Woods.
Mitch Woods is the only HB at the dogs with a ‘known’ contract.
Btw all three would be higher regarded than Jayden Sullivan for instance.
Oh and Alex Conti is still there.
Dogs just get it.

So you’re dismissing the second half , which is banter from actual / former players ? Ok bro …. Yea Madge was the best ! The players loved him . All players want to play for him …. Cool story bro . Tell it again
Why can’t both things be true at once ? Many players don’t want to play for him , but he’s a good bloke and good coach . And he burns people out . Both mentally and physically . I think such is the nuance of all of us , all the above can be true about someone .
My whole point is he was fired for a reason. And it was the same reason he was fired from the bunnies . Does that make him a shit coach ? No not at all . But if I was hiring him for my team , would I be concerned with that history .
It would be number one on my list of worries . Not to mention the aggressive , massive middles , and war by attrition style , only works if you have a Yeo or a burgess in your team . Anyways im sick of arguing .
The narrative shift because he won 2 games in origin is puzzling to me . But good for you !
