Signings, Suggestions & Rumours Discussion

They had the best second rower in the comp this year. Centre is not as important as it used to be but second row is majorly important in the modern game. Every single top 8 team has at least one gun second rower.

Sam fainu has massive potential to be the best second rower we've had since Ellis, but we clearly need another.
are you talking about blore ? And Trent Loeiro has been a revelation now he’s been moved to edge , but best back rower in the comp ? Better than Martin? Better than Olakoatu? Better than young? Better than Angus Crichton? Better than Kikau ? I dunno bro …

Interesting if thats true. Given the cash available from flicking Klemmer and the direct of the club/ positive recruitment/ NZ link re. Benji. I reckon he probably just doesn't want to live in the city.
Listening to @jrtiger & Mac's recent Wests Tigers Faithful podcast on our salary cap, we probably don't have as much in the cap for next season as a lot of people think even removing Klemmer.

He’s told the Knights that 25 is his final season there. He’s also a Raiders junior.

unless we shed someone that I'm not currently aware about we can't realistically afford to keep Klemmer, even if we wanted to. if we do we'll be filling the remaining spots with minimum wage-tier guys.

Are you forgetting Katoa?

Crichton was the best this year,
But Katoa has been immense since joining the Storm.

Is it ? Storm have shown those positions can be filled by not elite players and still dominate
Katoa was Dally M backrower and i reckon Howarth will be an Origin centre in 2025. I agree the other 2 blokes, Blore and Meaney, are far from elite but would probably be the best backrower and centre in the squad if they were in our side.

May has agreed to terms & would have definitely signed something. Is being paid otherwise he wouldn't be at training or doing media.

The question is where is the Miller situation up to.

We seemed to have 31 players signed but when the squad was released Faagutu no longer there. Paid out you'd assume. Miller, sacked basically, you would assume once this finalised then May will be lodged with the NRL.

When Bateman & Sullivan go, Sione will be upgraded.

Pending cap space I think we hold the last spot to see what happens with Taylan.

We probably need another back rower but nothing on the market.

2026 I see us looking for 2 more forwards & pending Taylan a gun centre.
Great summary of recent discussions hope this post predicts the path going forward like to know what the Miller situation is like we all do.

Hold on, hold on. Blore was in our squad and he was bog average. He's playing in a better team now, which makes the fairly limited job he does look better. But we literally know what he could do for the Tigers because we've seen it, and it's not a great deal.

He is, he took the 30th spot on the roster. There's been some confusion for some reason. But he is 100% part of the club top 30.
Even when he announced he was joining us the official statement said "May would be signing a contract with us in the near future".

Has that happened? Maybe. Has Miller formally been sacked or is that still in the works? Who knows.

The NRL only confirmed Hunt joining the Broncs a few days ago even though they announced him weeks back.

There's no doubt about if, it's just when, and it May have already happened. Who knows. We haven't officially released anyone for 2025 yet though.

Faagutu very hard done by, toils away after moving down from Qld, had a few injuries but was one of our best every time he was on the field and seemingly gets bought out without so much as even a farewell and all the best note on the website.

I'm sure once the arbitration process has finished, the club will drop a statement to advise the release of Miller.

Though in writing this, you are right, we have heard nothing official about Faagutu which is surprising as usually there is small statement from clubs about player releases.

The Miller issue is all about money, not a place in the squad.
