Signings, Suggestions & Rumours Discussion

And? Lestronge is asking JC if he is writing about Blore being the best edge forward in the comp. I said he's writing about Katoa.

Blore was also lazy in the Week 1 final v Cronulla where he's walking across the field in edge defence on a Sione Katoa try
Yea I somehow confused loeiro and katoa into the same person , and messed up thier history . My bad . Yea I think Katoa was a baller all year .

May was taking his spot in the top 30, so if he's not officially been released yet then there's no room for May yet either.
I get that the miller thing is about money , but until it’s settled 100 , you can’t really allocate the spot to may . When miller gets his payout his contract will be officially terminated and the roster spot opened up .
It’s all formalities .

Newcastle Knights Leo Thompson:

Leo Thompson has reportedly informed the Knights he will not be taking up their extension offer and will instead depart the club following the 2025 season.

That is according to Code Sports, who are reporting Newcastle powerbrokers were informed of the prop’s decision on Monday in a brutal blow for the Hunter club.

The 24-year-old was one of the hottest free agents to hit the market on November 1, with a host of clubs lining up to secure his services and a bumper offer reportedly tabled.

The Knights’ fresh deal was reportedly blown out of the water by a contract put forward worth more than $3.2 million across four seasons.

The Raiders and Bulldogs are reportedly the two clubs in the running for the gun prop’s services, while he’s also been linked to the Dolphins, Eels and Tigers.

As per NRL contracting rules, the Knights have 10 days to attempt to convince Thompson to backflip on his new contract but the club have reportedly withdrawn their offer.

If the Tigers have a good season in 2025 .. it might sway his decision a little our way as we move and look forward to a strong 2026 season which is when Thompson is leaving the Knights.

Hel decide in the next couple of weeks. Tbh not sure if it will be Raiders or Dogs.

Rather get 2nd rower first. Have enough front rowers at the moment.

Yeah it’d be nice but he’s gunna want bucket loads to come here too I reckon.
We’ve upgraded our mighty boy prop already.
We need a srf, lock and centre of NRL run on standard.

No to Thompson, we have enough front rowers and desperately need backrowers.

Even if Klemmer was to leave we would have Pole, May, Twal, Hunt, Sione Fainu and Seyfarth all in the NRL squad. Ideally you only want 4 (max 5) in the 17 leaving two of the above playing cup along with Johannssen and Rahme (not including Klemmer).

We need to balance our cap and cannot afford to have to much tied up in one position.

Samuela is the only NRL quality backrower in the squad, we desperately need two more edge backrowers and a long term option at lock.

Hold on, hold on. Blore was in our squad and he was bog average. He's playing in a better team now, which makes the fairly limited job he does look better. But we literally know what he could do for the Tigers because we've seen it, and it's not a great deal.
But he wasn't bog average at all. Perennially injured yes, but not bog average. It was people believing he was cooked and never on the field that was the main complaint.

I remember at the time he was rumoured to be going he was averaging the most offloads per run in the competition without a high error count. A respectable work rate and metres per carry and decent tackle efficiency. He offered more than any of our forwards but couldn't string enough games together to earn a starting spot.

are you talking about blore ? And Trent Loeiro has been a revelation now he’s been moved to edge , but best back rower in the comp ? Better than Martin? Better than Olakoatu? Better than young? Better than Angus Crichton? Better than Kikau ? I dunno bro …
Eli Katoa? Dally M second rower of the year...

Klemmer will have a massive year on 2025.

I don't think he's heavy enough these days
(I'm sure someone could /will find stats to argue otherwise)
But watching footage from his old days at the Dogs / Origin etc. He was thicker....
I don't he's been like that since he was at the Knights (Maybe looking to improve his minutes? and has been less effective since
