Signings, Suggestions & Rumours Discussion

Where u going to play him we got 3 wingers in from of him , then there’s toa and nadan
That’s why I said he might not start the year. If he knocks on the door hard enough, there’s no reason he can’t force his way in. We might have a lot of outside backs, but most of them are far from locked in. I think the only one you say with confidence starts is Turuva, and probably Olam. The other spots are up in the air.

I wasn’t overly impressed with Laulili this year. Had a couple of shockers. But you can’t write him off at 18. If he’s got a crack that young, he’s clearly got something. Idk if he’s worth starting with, but should definitely be in the side at some stage.
I think that Laulilii will be one of the guys to cement a spot this season and become a regular.

I believe he was our youngest ever debutant after Lawrence and made his debut a week after turning 18. Benji even mentioned he would have debuted him in round 1 last year if it wasn't for the NRL rules.

He will still be 18 for half of this season. He has so much growth in front of him both mentally and physically. Just look at To'o when he was 19-20 years old, physically he wasn't anywhere near what he is now... Reference below (some good highlights of Romey in there also!)

Probably the only player at the fan day I thought that seemed quite immature. Just hasn’t grown up.

Such a waste of so much talent.
Waste of space. Arrogant and yet tackles as hard as a slight breeze.

Disses Benji for calling him out yet every supporter can see he throws the team under the bus because of his laziness..

One year.and Gonski. No other club either. Maybe NSW cup..

Who’s in front of him ? I think you will find he jumps the lot at some point. The centres will be Turuva and Olam , and the I think the wingers will be Skelton and Lualiii . The real thing will be when Makasini is eligible. Hopefully the nrl backs are doing well so there’s no need or desire to blood him early .

I don’t know where all this talk about his talent is coming from all of a sudden. You want a wasted talent? Taylan May. There’s a guy, so far who’s really blown a golden opportunity to make millions of dollars. That’s not something you can say about Naden. He might be lacking in mental aptitude, but he’d hardly be a superstar even if he wasn’t.

Both Laulilli’s need to have a couple of stand out games playing NSW Cup before they should be considered for NRL.
Sure Luke showed some promise amongst a few mistakes when playing NRL at a very young age in 2024.
He should be much improved with age and experience in 2025, but surely he needs to show he’s competent under the high ball, has minimised his mistakes and show he can dominate in NSW Cup before he gets another NRL call up.
Kit showed intent to hit top speed quickly and run the ball hard in his NRL debut against the Sea Eagles in the last round of 2023, but did not show this once in 2024.
He is limited in way of size, speed and athleticism, therefore running the ball hard is a must for him to succeed.
I think the microscope is well and truly on Kit and Sol Saukuru in 2025 as they have both now had a season under their belt playing against men in NSW Cup, both were very dominant in the junior ranks, but need to show a lot more than they did in 2024 to establish themselves as potential regular NRL players.
Saukuru did have some good moments throughout the 2024 season, but his lack of speed and lack of fitness is a big concern.

Looks like Souths only agreed to a 1 year deal with final negotations today, Bud to return in '26.

Daily Tele: After crunch talks between the two parties on Thursday the Tigers and South Sydney have agreed to a one-year deal with Sullivan returning to the Tigers in 2026 to see out the final year of his contract.

There had been talk of a two year contract at South Sydney with the prospect of Sullivan getting out after year one but that was unable to be finalised.

What happened to 27? This indicates his deal is reduced to just 2 years.

Good find, was that Toyota Cup?

Why not both.

Naden had all the tools the top centres/wingers had. Speed, strength, size. Should be pushing for rep jerseys, but instead no one wants him in the NRL.

Madge wisely recruited Ipap and API but unfortunately only had them long enough to say hello/goodbye.
To be fair, they weren't recruited until Sheens came back on board as Head of Football or whatever it was. Not sure how much Madge had in recruiting those boys based on his previously horrendous recruitment record. Thank goodness whoever was responsible got Api tho

He’s tall and pretty quick. Don’t think I’ve seen him shrug off defenders too often. Seems a bit too easy to tackle for his size.
