Signings, Suggestions & Rumours Discussion

GI appt I think is great. I would like to think even though he is the assistant coach for nrlw, he would be attending first grade and reserve grade training sessions , possibly even flegg and matts. Young centres, fullbacks, wingers… what a resource to tap into for them, to look up to for his onfield performances/experience , message it also sends to indigenous youths in our system and beyond. Attract others to the club ? Time will tell, i like the direction it’s going.

He must be the best video analysist in the league by now. (No Hopa jokes please).

I wonder if we’ve ever given him any specialist training? Other than how to tune in the video to the tv. If you don’t know how just go to the nostalgia thread.
Seriously though I’d be very interested to know what initial and ongoing training we gave/give Simon to help him become a the best.

If you haven't listened to the latest from the boys on the WTF poddy it would be good for you to jump on. They do an interview with Mitch Tyler that will answer some of your questions on our coach development. There does not appear to be a formal growth programme. This is definitely an area we could improve and something Richo and the team should definitely have a look at.

I find it bewildering the little that is invested in the development of coaches.

I would need you to link me up Jolls.
I don’t do soc med stuff except for the WTF.
But that’s ok, I believe ya when you say there’s not much of a growth program, it’s farely evident.

Hey, on another note, I just thought if we win a decent amount of games this year we might see a return of the @Juro curve.
I used to love that until it started heading south every year. 😁

Mate, I think he has a guaranteed job for life at the club, he's upskilled every season too from what I understand. He's the guy that operates drones over training and all the other stuff. Valued member I'm always stoked when I see him what a legend

That’s great to hear that he’s actually training to be better.

Totally agreed.

particularly the area our first grade team is the weakest at:
Wing/Center defense.

You clearly will have GI helping Bula, but I reckon him just eyeing Turuva, Olam, Naden we will get a little more out of them.
I believe our current center pairing is Naden/AD... as Olam and Turuva are out injured. I think many people are over Naden and heck I agree. But I would like to see Naden give it a red hot go for the first few games of the season. The spot is still up for grabs and someone like GI will impart skills across our backline.

Wow...

Glad the club is still looking after him.
They didn’t initially. It wasn’t until Alex McKinnon broke his neck that the spotlight got shone back onto Dwyer who said the club hadn’t done anything for him. Not long after that he miraculously had a role on the coaching staff.

Poor fella what a great career he had in front of him snatched away mate I can still vision when he was replaced the way his arm was shaking haunts me today, see last year I think it was a fins player picked up similar injury wonder if he will recover.

And ? How many of those people are still here who made both the decision to do nothing , and the following decisions to not only offer him a role , but one he can upskill , and have growth in .
My guess is zero !
The whole league had an issue with looking after ex nrl players . This was before CTE became known / very early days in public awareness .
Guys like Tuiaki got shafted every year . Whether it’s because finally the nrl has a collective understanding about duty of care , or the club itself has realised it’s been very “what have you done for me lately” either way , your point is redundant ..

Redundant how? It’s a fact the Dwyer said after McKinnon’s injury that the club had done little for him. Then not long after he had a job. You going on about the change in personnel at the club is what’s redundant as that has no relevance to anything.
