Signings, Suggestions & Rumours Discussion

Are people watching the same Alex Twal that I watch each week take every dirty hit up into the meat of the opposition and run like his life depends on it ? The same Twal that makes tackle after tackle and cleans up every half chance around him with a 98% rate ?? I cannnot fathom the lack of support he cops on here .. he tried week in week and when you put a few other go forward middles with him he looks awesome..
I said a while ago that every team needs an Alex Twal, and I still have that opinion. Nothing flash, but very under-rated and extremely reliable. He is even showing a willingness to ball-play to an extent so far this year. Hopefully a good year for him.

I believe the Knights have concerns Ponga will go to the Roosters so having Brown ensures a big name (and big $) player is at the club.
Don't see what difference that would make IF your theory is correct.
I'd say they're hoping Brown plays out of his skin WITH ponga and.forms a good combo that would be more likely to see KP stay

Re Seyfarth...

If leg speed is the issue, Seyfarth is not the player to be removed.

Not saying he doesn't have other issues, and speed does explain why we punted Bateman + Klemmer so a fast pack could be what Benji is aiming for.

But Seyfarth isn't our slowest player. Hunt/Twal are our slowest. No I wouldn't be punting either of those battering rams.

Moving Api to lock with Da-Silva or Love as hooker would really give us some speed around dummy half. Maybe not starting there, but 20 minutes in... it would throw some teams.

I would be moving on some of our back row depth. Till the weekends game, that was Starford Toa... Yet Toa aced his first game of 2025 and we appear to have good selection headaches.
I was surprised by Hunt’s speed when he was involved in chasing back after a break to mark an inside receiver. Saved a try probably and was a great effort play. Think he has pretty good pace over say 40m for a big man.

Have said his best performing year was when he played lock. He tightens up the middle and workload is always high which lessens the workload on others. He also tended to run harder/more direct and offloaded.

2 games so far this year we have seen that happening again, will be interesting how the season unfolds for Twal.

Bird coming on adds a different dimension impact wise mixed with some speed & ball playing which for a tired forward pack will open some games up for us.

I actually like the combination/rotation Benji has started with here and think it can add value for us over the year.

Matamua has certainly stalled, but there’s no need to rewrite history. He was a gun at under 18, under 19 level.

I’d be interested to see what a Bellamy or Bennett could get out of young Justin View attachment 21080

Odd one... I'm the first one to look toward the Coaching and we all know how the System has been for a decad.,
But the Identical System, Path and Coaching has worked for plenty of the kids behind him
- But not him?
I saw him when he went back to 20's (2023 Maybe) And he was shown up there as well.

Should never have Debuted is my thinking, He hadn't earned it then and hasn't since.

Seriously, I said it last week it's not just because we beat them but why would he go to Parra. I reckon Mitch will end up getting Isaac to call uncle Nick for a spot at Bondi, once Brown goes they currently have Moses Paulo and that young fullback and thats about it for really good footballers, they're on a massive slide.

Don't rate Lomax and Addo Carr?
When they move Matto, Lane they'll have some big money to spend.

That young Prop has a bit of go in him, I like what I've seen from him.
Ofahengaue is their Twal / Seyfarth

5 years.

So Bennett would actually have to fail at Souths or use a get-out clause.

I totally agree with Insaneink... It's a longshot of a longshot.

I still reckon it's a door that could open.

We need to lock up TDS before he hits the open market
I agree he looked better than api when he was out there
I can't believe that in NSW or QLD teams there is not an up and coming Second Rower waiting for a chance we should entice over.
maybe we aren’t looking that’s the only conclusion I can come up with 🥴

I think it’s very reminiscent of Matt Groat . Was a world beater in juniors which fast tracked his nrl debut/ sheens wanted to see how meh went against men . And rather than the nrl debut giving him the fire to prove he can be an nrl player consistently , it’s almost like the debut broke them , and they never recovered .

Second Rowers of note who played Cup this week:
Jacob Laban, Michael Chee Kam, Mavrik Geyer, Harrison Hassett, Jacob Host, Dylan Egan, Jermaine McEwen, Ryan Matterson, Kelma Tuilagi, Bryce Cartwright, Charlie Guymer, Kurtis Morrin, Joe Chan, Jeremiah Nanai, Jamal Shibasaki and Jaiyden Hunt.

Most of those don't move the needle but there a few young guns who should definitely be looked at. Would love McEwen from Newcastle, he's an absolute gun and stuck behind Lucas, Pearce-Paul and Elliott at the Knights.

It's the same with Tumeth looked at his best when he played in the junior SOO team but just hasn't progressed since, looking like another one of those players that looks good in the juniors but just doesn't have it at senior level.

Cannot imagine the knights that have McEwen locked in through 2027 letting him go any time soon.
