Signings, Suggestions & Rumours Discussion

Mate can't agree on Lawrie if we want to get better as a team whoever comes in needs to be an upgrade if the player who goes out is ordinary, Kit could do Lawrie's job better from a depth perspective.
I’ve got no confidence in Kit whatsoever.
Seems like a great young kid who does his best, but he lacks size to make an impact, lacks the required fitness to play many minutes and doesn’t hurt or dominate anyone when he tackles.
I’ve never seen him play a dominant NSW Cup game yet, not sure how that makes him ready for NRL ?

I believe quite a few values I noted are likely less than what they are actually being paid, I can’t see which ones would be likely to be higher than their true contract value, can you ?
Its impossible to know isn't it? How much of what is quoted in the media includes TPAs? How about dispensation for veterans and developed players?

You may be right, but it is just a guessing game.

No idea what he currently being paid, but I’d value him at around 350k similar to what I’m assuming Seyfarth and Sione Fainu would be getting paid ?

he is probably a lesser player than those two…otherwise why would the Dragons be moving him on? They just got rid of Molo

Thinking about our cap and position s available about 1.4mil and 3 spots.
If May comes he’ll take Olams spot and probably around 400-500k.
Laurie would take Klemmers spot might be around 300k.
I’m sure they’ve got money earmarked to upgrade Galvins current offer so the can extend him might be around 300k.
So that would leave 1 spot and another 300k probably for a backrower.

What's the hold up on this weeks news I wonder? Hopefully we haven't been told to get in the sea RE Olam's medical retirement.

It was only trials but thought Kit looked all right in them haven't seen any KOE games so can't comment, hasn't had many opportunities in 1st grade toss him in if there's an injury sink or swim time on career prospects.

I don’t think Shane Flanagan is every players cup of tea as their coach.
As an example Flanagan has openly criticised Tuipolutu for getting in the face of his opposition after scoring a try, I don’t think Benji has a problem with Turuva doing it and nor should he, we need to be a team who back each other and celebrate all the small wins throughout each game.
Blake Lowrie seems like someone with a bit of attitude and someone who needs his ego to be fed to get the best out of him.
My intel tells me Jack Bird is very similar and so far is loving life and his time in the current Wests Tigers environment, so who knows it could also be the tonic Blake Lowrie needs to rediscover his best form.
Shane Flanagan loved Jack Bird when he was helping him win a premiership with the Sharks, but didn’t like his joker attitude when things were not going so well at the Dragons. Make of that what you will, but players generally want consistency from their coach throughout the good and the bad and are more likely to get that from Benji.

He’s very mobile for a big man, I’m surprised the Knights are not looking at retaining him given they are losing Leo Thompson.
He ticks plenty of boxes with good go forward and plenty of aggression, if a coach could somehow get him to reduce his errors and keep his discipline in check he would be a very valuable player.
I would prefer him to Lawrie V think I have seen him play on an edge at times as well, would be handy cover for us as well as playing middle.

I have a feeling a Blake Lawrie type will be who will look to add to our middles depth - an experienced player who can also lead our younger middles on the training paddock, a point to prove perhaps at a new club and someone who can easily be in 1st team middle rotation if required.

The other who could be on our radar is Jack Hetherington, Knights reportedly won't be extending.
My influence is growing....

We'll all be Jack fans soon. 😀

That's the point though; we don't know their true contract value.

The only thing 'close' to knowing their value is what is speculated in the media, but even then, even when they have inside knowledge, oftentimes it is different from platform to platform.

If someone is out even 50k on each contract, which would be a fair guess, that would equate to $1.5 million they would be out over the Top 30 squad.

It's a redundant exercise.

I appreciate what you're doing and it can be fun to play Supercoach recruitment manager, but if we're using our own estimates in order to make bold statements about the state of our cap, when we have literally no actual way of verifying the numbers, then those statements mean 2/5ths of bugger all in terms of the reality of Wests' cap situation.

Possibly …. Doobie hasn’t signed next year either …so there is $800k there that you have over estimated already….

they can also move on Latu as he will be surplus to requirements
Ummmm, I beg every last one of your pardons?
