Signings, Suggestions & Rumours Discussion

If Lachy was a proven FGer sure but he is a rookie and for every good thing he does their is probably two rookie errors. You don't give rookies the keys and 5mill unless you see them in your future.
He has made clear we are not in his so I think all the players would prefer to be lining up with a player that would benefit from the transition to FG and use Lachy when and if their are no better options.
It’s 💯 not the same . Galvin has got zero runs on the board , where you can afford him the courtesy of “doing what’s best for him “. To outright drop him out of spite is stupid . But Benji has been very patient and turned a blind eye to many of his rookie mistakes , to develop him and build trust and rapport with him .
That all goes away now . It’s who can do the best job consistently for 80 mins . If that’s Galvin , and continues to be . Cool . That’s fine . But I guarantee you as a coach , especially after that game against the knights Benji would have had moments where he would have wished for someone to straighten the attack . And both AD and Fainu do that a lot better than Galvin .its going to be interesting , as the best thing for the club with a loyal Galvin , was to develop Galvin , warts and all . Now none of that is true . So he’s going to have to play out of his skin to keep AD and Fainu out of the JOb IMO.

This is where I don't think the "drop him immediately" view is accurate. Players aren't stupid (well, kinda). If the club offers someone five million bucks then drop him the next week it's pretty obvious that they didn't suddenly decide he's not up to first grade. If he was the best 5/8 at the club last weekend he still will be next weekend.

Think of it from a player's perspective. They're busting a gut to win now, why would they be anything but pissed off if the club - in their eyes - made that less likely by dropping the best option in a position (and one the club clearly also rates as it just offered him a big contract)?

As I say, the complicating factor is Fainu because he offers a similar profile to Galvin - talented but raw, basically - and it might help offset the disquiet in the squad thing that he's got two brothers there. On the other hand, it might split the dressing room down the middle. If Fainu wasn't there I'd 100% be saying dropping Galvin would be a dumb idea.

As it is, it's more complicated: as I say, I don't envy Benji. And just to be clear, I definitely think the optimal outcome from this season is more game time for Fainu and less for Galvin than I thought a week ago. It's just not black and white.
I don't think Benji will drop him this week but their is a big risk that Lachie won't cope with that pressure is on him now to get everything right because the allowances you make for rookies will no longer can no longer be applied.

Bula is the next cab of the rank with Isaac Moses... next
As a player has his rights as to whom he has as a manager.

A club has its rights as to signing players, who are controlled by certain managers.

Only sign players who do not have MOSES as their manager, because this situation is occurring more frequently, and Moses is the name that keeps appearing.
If talks are started with any players, first question, who is your Manager, if answer is Moses,
Next please.

I think he’s safe to latu comes back then benji has to start looking to the future and having latu at 7 and moving laui back to 5/8 and I think that will work better for the team

So if according to Hooper, Isaac Moses has an issue with Benji as coach, where does that leave Jahream Bula, Tony Sukkar & Pheonix Godinet long -term?

Bit of a contradiction if true because Godinet just signed a dev deal for 26 with top 30 in 27 with the club.
Only difference between Pheonix Godinet and Galvin is Godient wants to stay here.

He wanted out 3 times last season.

No player especially a rookie is bigger than the coach.

Reality is he just doesn’t want to be here & now won’t be.

Good riddance I say he is acting like a self entitled spoilt brat.

Calm down old sport
Re Manise Fainu, job out of prison.

If he wants it and if he can bulk up in prison.. Do it. He has to pass the team standards and work hard.
But we need a 2RF and a Prop.

I could see another Brother filling a Depth/cheapie option.

Disappointed he is leaving, once Latu is fit he should definitely take his spot. I don't think there is a massive drop with what we lose and like others have said we might as well start perfecting that combo.
Don't care where Galvin ends up, only care about us winning.
Bula I will be more disappointed about losing him.
Galvin leaving is totally different to Luai leaving the panthers. Luai was part of the 4 peat for them and has left a lasting legacy more than repaying the clubs investment in him.

All the commentators can pump Galvin up could not give a rats...

Richo is turning us around and Benji is improving.
We need that 1 unit team culture you are with us or your out.

And yes I am going heckle Galvin LO

Is that likely to help us win games of footy this year?

Agree the focus needs to switch to Latu’s development. He needs to get fitter though. Can’t do much about a broken thumb or head knock but the soft tissue injuries come from simply not being rock hard, week in week out, NRL fit. If he wants to take the opportunity, get fitter. His 2026 pre season will show whether he has the discipline to match the undoubted talent. Galvin is a beast as a trainer and reaps the benefits of this with his durability despite being a piece of rope.

Why do we want a guy who has not played in five years? I didn’t realise we were that desperate.

On the other hand though the guys busting their gut may get their nose out of joint when they're busting their gut while the bloke standing next to them has said he's out first chance he got.
