Signings, Suggestions & Rumours Discussion

Looking at what could potentially be our top 30 next year...

Again, we need to focus on depth.

We likely will be seeing a lot of departures.
We need to focus on;

Backrow
Wing and centre depth
A genuine lock
A back up half

Backrow: our options are Samuela, Seyfarth, Bird and Sukkar. I think we really add a star into this position to add some spark to our attack. Watching the better backrowers like Hudson Young, Kikau, Tuponia- they smash the line each week for tries. I'd like to see what we can do to improve this. The mail is on Kai Pearce Paul.

Wing and centre depth: I expect to see Staines, Feledy, Naden and possibly even Fataaape, all leave. Makasini moves into the top 30 and I hope we'll add Taylan May. I am a fan of Luke Lualilii but we will be somewhat short on depth. We need to add a few decent back ups to help and as I mentioned earlier I think Krystian Mapapalangi will be that guy but I think another one or two are needed.

A genuine lock: unless we plan to continue playing Twal at 13, this is something we've always needed to address. I am not sure who we could sign to address this, or should we lock to play Kit Lualilii in this role? What's everyone's thoughts?

A backup half: with Latu and Luai likely being our halves, moving forward... what happens if one of them goes down? Adam Douihei? We've tried that. Sullivan returns to play cup and wait for his chance? No thanks. I think we need a backup option... Penrith have used Toelau, Schneider, Cogger, Talagi, over recent times. We need a decent, crafty back up, ideally who can cover multiple positions. Is Heath Mason the guy?
Have to agree hear
Hard hitting and running back rower - KPP goes ok would need to study up a bit on him v others

Fast centre with some attitude. - May

Half , again must be quick and tough - good footy brain

Reserve grade upgrade , Dump Tumeth , Feledy , Matta , Lob , and a few more and go get the likes of Cartwright , Lane from eels , players like this to help the better young guys , our team again is poor , which is about 4 years running now , time to clean it right up

Following up again, haa

Problem solved:

Backrow:
Kai Pearce Paul
Elie El Zakhen

Half depth:
Tyrone May

Lock:
Jaxon Rahme
Jmaine Hopgood from Parramatta in a swap deal.

Maybe a good option for backrow depth, is already within our ranks...

Elie El Zakhem.

Perhaps worth a look at a top 30 contract next year?
I like him too. If he continues this form, he may well get a look in later in the season depending on how we are going & injuries. Would be a good player 27-30 squaddie or T&T at worst.

Definitely be a good squad filler and better than the likes of Tumeth.

I could see this being his last chance to make it so he'd have a lot of drive to succeed.

There is definitely some options around to fill our gaps.

Nadens defence is horrific he can't be picked at centre, wing maybe but its a big maybe imo

His effort is there but his transition to sliding out is too slow and caused a lot of issues.

Watching live I really appreciate some of Starfords efforts. He gets put in some very difficult situations and came up with a few great defensive efforts when you thought he had no chance of shitting it down.

Josh Feledy - I think we've seen enough to know that he doesn't have what it takes.
Justin Matamua - contract ends this year, not meant to be.
Brandon Tumeth - small & ineffective, first grade career isn't on the cards.
Charlie Staines - Feels like he's not part of the plans.
Brent Naden - door closed. Had enough chances and hasn't ever really done it.
Jayden Sullivan - Not good enough.
Solomone Saukura - not top 30 calibre.

These players are all top 30.
All their deals end this year and none should be renewed.

These are the type of contracts that are a complete waste to us.
Bud Sullivans good enough for Wayne Bennett
He'd be handy here right now ay

In reserve grade I would dump the coach as well. They are going nowhere. Just a thought?

squad building is an imprecise science and Richardson's done a phenomenal job to this point to get the 30 to where it is.

that said, we all know we require 2-3 signings for the 17 to make us a genuine top 4 chance, with a few required down below to ensure depth. I'm confident we'll likely hear something around external recruitment within the next few weeks as we utilise the cash Galvin and Moses left on the table.

Nados did a few good things problem is unfair to judge him on first game back from injury. We were missing a few Hunt, Skelton, Latu Fainu and Galvin for obvious reasons. All 4 are in our starting 17. We are one edge back rower down to begin with along with a genuine 13 and centre.

Incomplete squad but we are on the right track. Throw in Taylan May, KPP and next year Makasini and we are a genuine finals side.
It's always next year.

I'm so angry at all this shit that the club continues to cop ... from agents, referee officials, inaction from NRL ... nothing changes.

If we can't win, I just want us to smash the other teams physically, just become a team of enforcers F em all , do whatever to bring Spencer Leniu over, Jack Hetherington, Taylan May and others.

It's us against the world!

NOTE: lots of emotion talking.
I feel ya BWG! I see myself as being quite optimistic with my Tigers point of view the majority of the time. Excitement, hope and expectation start to build. Then we get the week from hell both on and off the field. We are long overdue for some sustained luck from everywhere. Gets bloody hard seeing us being shat on all the time.

Justin Matamua has the talent but neither the self-belief nor work ethic. I'm worried that Kit Laulilii is on the same trajectory.

Tumeth looked mediocre in Jersey Flegg. He has found his level in Sydney Shield.

Solomone is the best of the Saukuru clan but not worthy of the top 30 squad. His development would be better served in a strong system where he was made to work for a fulltime contract.

Sukkar has gone up in my estimation. He may well eek out a 10-20 game career across multiple clubs.
