Signings, Suggestions & Rumours Discussion

Justin Matamua has the talent but neither the self-belief nor work ethic. I'm worried that Kit Laulilii is on the same trajectory.

Tumeth looked mediocre in Jersey Flegg. He has found his level in Sydney Shield.

Solomone is the best of the Saukuru clan but not worthy of the top 30 squad. His development would be better served in a strong system where he was made to work for a fulltime contract.

Sukkar has gone up in my estimation. He may well eek out a 10-20 game career across multiple clubs.
I'd be willing to give Solo to the end of his contract next year. He just could be the player who lifts to the standard at the level he is playing. In a half of a NRL trial (albeit Cup standard), he looked quite good.

He has size & skill, just has to prove he has the effort & attitude to progress. Plus I think we will have enough players cut who are off contract this season that we can afford to give him another season.

You can both add the Laulilii boys and Sukkar need work on their aerobic fitness under Roger Fabri in the next off season. There Developpements are being stifled by poor coaching and playing structures.

I'm so angry at all this shit that the club continues to cop ... from agents, referee officials, inaction from NRL ... nothing changes.

If we can't win, I just want us to smash the other teams physically, just become a team of enforcers F em all , do whatever to bring Spencer Leniu over, Jack Hetherington, Taylan May and others.

It's us against the world!

NOTE: lots of emotion talking.
Honestly it's quite deflating atm. It seems like everytime we make a bit of progress & see a bit of hope as fans something always comes to shut it all down. I feel like the media, players & agents will never give the Wests Tigers the chance of being successful.

When we talk about all these players we have that are not worthy of top 30 contracts, have we looked around and noticed who other clubs have in their top 30 ?
99% of people posting would not have any idea who most of player 25-30 are at opposition clubs, so have nothing to compare us with.
Our problem is not roster spots 25-30, it is being 1-2 quality players short in our top 17, then lacking the required quality between roster player 18-24.

well said and wholeheartedly agree. have to remember that the 2-3 players required for the 17 will see a few players trickle down as well.

These strong, hard running, high energy forwards are the way forward.
Look at the Dogs forwards, Egan and Couchman boys at the Dragons, Nicholson from Canberra. Bullemor at Manly. The list goes on. They can keep up with the pace of the game and not be left on the ground or retreatnig back the 10 mins. We need us some of that! From where, I have no idea but we dont seem to be bringing anyone through that fits this build?

His effort is there but his transition to sliding out is too slow and caused a lot of issues.

Watching live I really appreciate some of Starfords efforts. He gets put in some very difficult situations and came up with a few great defensive efforts when you thought he had no chance of shitting it down.
I was soooooo anti toa but he has been solid so far this year.

The question I ask is this, during the offseason we were talking up the potential of some of our young forwards coming through and yet no one has forced Benji's hand for a crack at 1st grade.
It's as if they have fallen off a cliff, Sukkar is the only one and that's because of injuries.
Are they proving to be not good enough, it's time to recruit more forwards urgently.
Edit jr you changed your avatar, had to look twice lol.

Deflating is the right word. I felt an all too familiar flatness after last nights game. I know there's been progress but it feels like a lot of damage has been done in the last week and watching the players lose their heads, make poor decisions and give away poor penalties made me question just how much damage has been done.

I’m usually enthusiastic until there is a particular turning point in the season that pretty much draws out our fate.
Gotta give Benji some credit to making it through a third of a season before I lost that hope. Pretty much in line with where our season turned last year though.

That's the thing. It's Bennett. Not Marshall. 2 different types of coaches/mentors.
Asu Kepaoa now making over 200m in most of his games for the Panthers NSW Cup team, he was rarely cracking 100m and very unmotivated while he was here.
That’s just one example, plenty of our poorly performed lower graders now going great up in the Qld Cup, we clearly have a player development problem.

The big difference i have noticed in the last 15 months lack of skills and development,Poor lower grade coaching starting at KOE.

I think a lot of the Tigers strategy is based on that old slogan ‘if you build it, they will come’. Hence the over the top enthusiasm for a COE that would transform all our issues at once.
Still yet to see anything at present from our invested time and effort into our pathways.
Mind you this was established under Maguire whom had a whole of club focus before our great leaders ushered in Sheens as the second coming to change things all over again.

Maybe. Perhaps this is his last chance and he’s pulled his finger out.
