For sure mate, Luai has made a big difference. It makes you wonder whether he is the reason Penrith are struggling in defence so much. I'll add Turuva in there too, but I think together, they make a strong leadership combo. You are right on the culture building side of the house. We need to focus on developing a Wests Tigers that kids want to be part of. While I think Api has built the foundation the biggest change has been driven by Luai. This is also evident in the change of Api in his role on the paddock. With Luai directing play Api is much more animated in an around the ruck with hand signals and his voice and you can see chatter between him and Luai as they approach the ruck.
I know Luai's numbers are down on what he produced at the Riff but in a different role he is really making his mark. His influence on the culture at the club can't be underestimated and I think he is more important to keep than Api - although in my perfect world we would find a way to keep them both and TDS.
Would just like to see it embedded into the club and have the next leaders coming through before Api leaves.
I don't think TDS can play 80 right now anyway, so there's nothing wrong with a TDS/Api rotation for a couple more years. Particularly if he's playing the way he is now.
