Gotta say I agree, I’ve watched a bit of Katoa and he has all the tools. His deception around the ruck and in block plays has blown me away a few times.

The Galvin obsession is now becoming weird.

The Dolphins are attempting to recruit George Williams to play 1/2 so Katoa can move to 5/8. MSN had an article yesterday.

Releasing Galvin probably has a fair bit to do with understanding what we have in Latu. Hopefully he gets 10 games or so to give us some idea.

In fairness, Galvin would probably revel in Madge's pre-season training regeme. Totally learn nothing about actual NRL, but work himself to death in a meaningless preseason training that will make the rest of the team exhausted.

So you have DCE (which they have approached) and Reynolds who says he wants to keep his family in Brisbane... But hey lets ask George Williams! !?!?!

He's a solid young right centre but imo Toa has demonstrated he has the pace and much improved defence to be our right centre.

No I don't agree with that statement. Penisini has a big reputation and perhaps it is deserved but from what I have watched, he is solid. Toa has finally started to fulfill the potential his selection in both the Aust Schools and Junior Kiwis teams suggested. His pace against Souths in the Mitchell chase was on show for all to see even though I suspect he was not 100% fit.

There's nothing to suggest that Reynolds has the skills to be a mentor (which is different to his skills as a player) and it didn't work out well for his previous understudy at Souths. There's also nothing to suggest that Latu would be able to learn from Reynolds as his skill set is different. The student/teacher thing is very hard to work through in a professional sports area where both players are trying to play at the elite level at the same time.

Personally think Galvin is 3 years off being elite. Suppose Gus loves a 5 year plan.

You don’t think he’ll improve dramatically under a coach he actually listens to and respects? Look at Moses, he was a dud here too because he didn’t want to be here anymore. Goes to Parra becomes a game breaker and now Origin half. Galvin will improve in an environment that suits him, of that I have no doubt.

Lachlan Ilias and Latu Fainu are hardly comparable. I'm not advocating we aogn Reynolds, I think it's a ridiculous option actually.
