Signings, Suggestions & Rumours Discussion

@swag_tiger Good news if its true. Hopefully we get much more of him after Robbie clicks over the 300 this weekend
Matulino news, not good for him but could be for us
Now if we could do something with Reynolds and Packer
Lawrence will be hard to do but probably it's time or he plays on for not much as a backup
Jennings does look like the one we could also do without
Is Mbye really on $950k and how much of it do we pay in 2020, 21 & 22

It's murky as apparently the NRL initially approved Parra getting cap relief to allow them to play for points and sign Foran...

Insurance company didn't pay as it was deemed pre-existing...so he was paid out by Parra..but not in the cap..

The RLPA should be getting involved in this. If Matulino's claim gets rejected because another club failed him on a medical then that makes those medicals potential career enders for players. As it turns out Matulino missed one game over 1 and a half seasons prior to this injury so having his career spiked over a failed medical 2 years ago would have been very premature...
From memory Watmough just succumbed to chronic injury, there was nothing acute. I don't know what the situation is with Matulino but if he suffered an acute injury then he should be cap exempt even if his chronic problems predisposed him to it. That's how it **should** work anyway...

@Nelson Here's hoping that Wests Tigers some relief from this. it would be very much be apreciated by the club and its supporters.

@Geo A good thing for us is the fact he has played 38 of the 39 games sense he joined Tigers.. If it was ongoing he would not of got anywhere nears those numbers... BUT it doesn't matter as the NRL will refuse because it is us and they want us out..

It would be appreciated but it won’t happen. The NRL would rather see us go to the wall than be able to buy some actual talent and compete. Be like waiting for Henry Perenara to become a good ref!

Isn't it an independent doctor that rules if it's a chronic injury or something new? I thought the NRL followed what the experts find.

I don't know the process but I'd imagine the Tigers would put on a claim with the NRL for a cap examination with evidence from a doctor or a number of doctors and the NRL would then probably have the medical records and Matulino himself assessed by an independent doctor. The insurer would also have him separately assessed given they have money on the line. The NRL might be cheap and wait for the insurance claim to be assessed so that they can just rely on the insurer's independent expert report...

All the best to Ben but I recall a thread here some time ago that Cleary forced through the signings of Matulino, Reynolds and Packer without medical clearances. If that is the case, WT are sure paying the price. Also, if the case- Pascoe should be crucified by the Board for his sign off of these contracts despite insufficient medical clearance.

I put it on here and was laughed at and the guy who told me that was also said that when Packer went to Mary's office to inform him of the big offer from the Tigers Mary stood up from his chair and shook Packers hand and said congratulations and good luck Packers hip already gone by then

And also the the guy i know keeps going on to me that the Tigers are chasing hard for a top young player who is under 22 and has a contract with a club for next year and is close to breaking to join the Tigers to play under Madge

@TheDaBoss I have watch him a few time this year and would of been a steal for us.. Very solid player who can break tackles and score tries.. Oh well we miss again

@Regan hi Regan, thank you so much for the insight, always helpful and appreciated! Any idea which club/region said player might hail from, as I’ve also got a fair idea (of who we might need)

However the player I’m hearing isn’t regarded as much of a gun and has reportedly been able to strike up a good enough deal for next yr with us?

Are you hearing George Fai by any chance.. my brother's friend who manages him says he's looking to possibly get out of Brisbane...

Tigers, Sharks are the two clubs the NRL would love to get rid of. Manly is third on the list.

@WT2K indeed ! Actually wouldn’t be too unhappy about him, Lomax is the other one that won’t leave my eardrums alone atm , think it’s all to do with his own interests and management but if we were to bid in on Lomax at a decently low rate (despite Dragons having him contracted) and give him the #1 or #3 full time, there’s been talk Madge rates his abilities
Says he’s the kinda player to take us forward , I’m really not as convinced as I think Xerri is a freak and the one centre you’d love to pinch at all costs... won’t happen obviously
