Signings, Suggestions & Rumours Discussion

So you'd happily just give up on a bloke who's better than Galvin than give him relevant time to succeed?
He's young and he's still got plenty of years to develop. No need to throw a teenager with a history of injuries in the deep end. He continues in the squad as a 14, odd game of Cup for minutes and fitness and gets games in 1st covering injuries and suspensions. I'd be signing Sexton asap for Next year with an option for 2nd (2nd year Sexton may want options to join a Perth etc) and explain to Latu he is our long term man but we don't want to destroy him by the time he's 22

Why, oh why, after all this time, do we, as Tigers' supporters, still inflate numbers that have been widely reported.

..... Well, I know why, it's to help inflate arguments. We round up when we want to say someone isn't providing value and we round down when we want to indicate a player is good value.

But can we, at the very least, use the numbers that have been widely reported on in the media. I know it's not a perfect system, but at least it's (relatively) consistent.

Luai has been reported as earning approximately $6 over 5 years, which is $1.2 a year. Just about every platform and every outlet has repeated this figure ad nauseum. It's probably our best bet.

I've read posters in the last week use numbers 1.3 and 1.4, which, to the best of our understanding, is inaccurate and inflationary, particularly in discussions about value or perceived value. One or two hundred thousand dollars difference might not mean much in the grand scheme of things, but in discussions of NRL contracts and their value, it can completely warp the conversation.

It ruined any Brooks' discussion for years as his contract's value was used (repeatedly and rightly in many ways) to make a mockery of the club, oftentimes with figures that were inflated to give credence to their argument. And I know he won't be the last. We all make mistakes and until the NRL system makes salaries transparent then we're all playing in the unknowns anyway.

But, at the very least, we should be making every effort possible to be as accurate as possible when talking about our own players, at least.

... In my opinion.
We got Luai for a bargain if Brown is on $1.3m.

Does my head in with Brooks. Why doesn't anyone teach him to slow his attack down. He plays at full speed all the time and is so predictable. Watch Thurston or Katoa now how they speed or slow depending and puts the opposition in two minds. Brooks goes to the left at speed everytime.

What are the coaches doing?
Bloke is thick as. It's more on him

Who would he be behind? He's more proven than Latu. And Latu's versatility makes him a really useful 14/Lock/backup spine player
A couple of additions (Pezet & Fifita) to our roster and our forwards could shape like this ...

13 Latu 12 KPP 11 Fifita 10 Pole 9 Api 8 May (middle forward rotations - Sam & Sione Fainu with Seyfarth or Twal & then a Bird or Mason or TDS as 14).

Interesting take, looks like Wishart is ahead of him at the storm whenever Hughes or Munster are out. I do rate Pezet very highly, however I don't know if I would automatically assume he would take a starting spot over Latu, the kid could catch fire for the remainder of this year. Also, if we compare injuries Pezet was recently out for a very long time with an ACL. Pezet would probably see a clearer path the first grade at a host of other clubs before us.

Latu Fainu was the best rated halves prospect in the country coming through the grades (kept Galvin out of the 6 in all the rep sides.) Have no idea why there's a sudden obsession to play him as a 13 especially when he's struggling with injury already.

The media rumour is that Benji wants to play him there at 13 ( I have no idea if that’s true or not) ,.. but some people just want to agree with every decision Benji makes ( or supposedly makes )
