Signings, Suggestions & Rumours Discussion

When Luai has the mindset of playing "through" the opposition he plays much better. This year there was way too much dancing and playing before the opposition. He would be well advised to just play through and play physical. Once he does that he will open up so many opportunities for that potent left side
Luai hates a hard run. He's not a burton, wighton, or even a galvin who is always busy. Luai is a scraps player. When nothing is going on he pounces. He runs when he gets an offload as the defensive line is broken and he can weave around. 90% of the time his sideways runs don't work because the defensive line is set

I don’t think we will get that from him as he believes he’s earned the right to play in a dinner suit.
His defence has been very good, it’s clear to see he is trying to lead and motivate the team with his voice during games and he has no doubt improved his attack with better combinations and link play on our left edge as the season progressed.
My big issue with him is his kicking game has been average at best and his 5th tackle options have been very poor.
Whether we are happy with his form or not we are now all in with him as the core playing group are his close mates, so it would no doubt cause much unwanted unrest within the team if we decided we wanted to go in a different direction.
Obviously we need leaders and high profile players, the question is if we are spending 3.8 - 3.9 million dollars per season of our salary cap on 4 players being Jerome, Jahream, Api and Terrell, are they collectively good enough and worthy of taking up a third of our salary cap between them ?

Dragons are losing DeBelin and Klemmer is unsigned.
Aloiai is leaving Manly
There's no decent middles on the market, none in our reserves...

I think we're buckleys of getting anyone of note any time in the next 12 months.
Thats my fear and in another 12 months another team enters the market making recruitment even harder...especially for teams like us a.non desirable destination...same thing the year after.
We could be stuck with the same old.same old for the next few seasons relying on juniors

Josese Lanyon is 22y.o next season, it’s not too early for him to step up to NRL if he trains hard enough and earns a spot.
Similarly Charlie Murray will be 25y.o next season, he’s certainly old enough if good enough.
Agree both have potential but it is a big off season for a lot of players like Murray.

At Penrith Luai had Fisher-Harris and Yeo keeping him in check with us he has been given a license to play what he sees front of him by Benji which can work when everybody i on the same page.

I’ve noticed some of our supporters on here bagging the quality of Murray during his limited NRL game time with us.
I am not sure what more anyone was expecting ?
He is a light weight forward, but has demonstrated high energy acceptable standard defence, he has shown willingness and ability to make his 8-10m per carry with his good leg speed ball running, he’s shown a natural ability to play the first receiver link style of 13 players that our team desires and has shown an acceptable standard of service when at dummy half.
I’d say it’s a fair chance he packs on a couple of kilos of muscle over the off season and I could think of much worse players to have on a deal outside of our top 30.
If anything he should probably have a top 30 deal ahead of a few others.
At this point of time he’s comparable in what he can offer us to Jack Bird and at a fraction of the cost.

Adel Hage on the Claws Up podcast is tipping the Tigers will sign big Nelson from the Storm …

I’ll pass on that now …we have enough ill discipline in the team ..

People say there isn't enough quality middles on the open market and I agree. However, warriors whole reserve grade middles, trey Mooney and Davvy Moale are all better then our whole bench and Twal, yet we have probably missed out on all of them....

A couple of the raiders reserve grade forwards have come on today in the NRL and in 15 minutes shown more than Sukkar, Seyfarth, Twal did all season in attack
Based on the score line wondering what these Raiders reserve forwards were like in defence? They might fit right in

Moale is still on the market

Cowboys, Warriors and Eels all linked currently
