Signings, Suggestions & Rumours Discussion

Take this with a grain of salt.

I’ve heard some whispers that the club are positioning themselves to make a big play for Payne Hass when the Nov 1 deadline approaches within the next few weeks.

I’m sure there’ll be a queue - he does have his ring now so money and a new challenge could be a motive.

Regardless there’s definitely an interest from our side.
Still think we need another decent backrower but a yes to haas

wow @teddy23 you sure get some inside intel.....thanks for sharing

Bird is a cooked goose - Liam Henry has way more to give.
Why are we comparing Jack Bird to Liam Henry ?
Henry is a 112kg prop who I woukd love to see in Wests Tigers colours, but he is purely a big bodied worker who very rarely passes the ball.
If we are comparing him tj anybody it would be Alex Twal, but Twal and Bird are both contracted to us for 400k.
If will cost us a fair bit more than 400k to potentially sign Liam Henry.
Our own emerging Christian Taupau- Moors is also a similar body shape and similar style of player, but has a more confident pass before the line in his game.

richo always makes sure he has money.

maybe luai & may will be in his ear during the Samoan games 😎
Even if we do have money to spend, what are we prepared to offer someone like Payne Hass to even warrant him having a conversation with us ?
Not forgetting Haas has a lot of family commitments in Brisbane and considering the Broncos are rumoured to be willing to pay him as high as 1.3 or 1.4 million per season plus what they can offer him in 3rd party deals, we would need to offer him 2 milllion per season for him but even blink an eyelid and consider our offer.
Champion player, but is he worth 2 million per season to us under the salary cap ?

yeah it’s hard to see why he’d leave brisbane but he’s won a comp now so maybe money is the attraction. he’s a once in a lifetime player he’s honestly the only prop i’d pay over a mill for. for tigers $1.5m?

It’ll take a lot to make him move his whole family away from the jailbirds stuck in QLD.
Whatever the figure ends up being….itll be tough to justify. Just say your enormous figure is correct, the opportunity cost could be 3 very good players - which would be a wiser spend for mine.

Because we are trying to offload Bird

Surely he is quiet a few years away from being a regular if he even makes it?
probably, but he’s super determined so it wouldn’t suprise me if he pushes for a bench spot late next year. he documents his whole journey to NRL on ig. richo always says he won’t block the juniors coming through so the geyer signing is to probably to give him time.
