Signings, Suggestions & Rumours Discussion

And does he become an elite NRL fullback in 2026, demonstrating the form he showed against the Cook Islands on a regular basis ?

Probably not … $700k is not elite fullback money …

Is there a chance he improves his game from what he has shown so far in his 50 game career ?

It’s a very important question as we are not winning a competition and unlikely making the top 8 without an elite fullback.
So we either have faith and gamble on Bula becoming an elite fullback or if not confident in that happening why would we sign him for 3 years or more ?

How many elite fullbacks are there ?

They are Tedesco and Reece Walsh IMO only on over a million each …

Hammer is next at $900k…

Ponga is no longer as good as those three but is on over a million

Now answer my question …; is it possible Bula , only a 50 NRL appearance player can further improve his game ?

You also have changed your tune from last week when you said you would extend Bula at around $800k per season

I’m looking for a date with Margot Robbie …it may not happen though …

Who is paying him that figure ? Couldn’t even see the Bears doing that
Who wouldnt..apart from Alan Jones!!
Bears are desperate for a marquee,so they will pay that ..they need some runs on the board.Cant succeed with Seff Efrican rugby discards
Dogs will pick him up for $750k x3 with the promise of developing his game/playing finals football...plus a small share in a local pub!
Hes definitely in play if he so chooses

Bula & Luai are garbage anyway right? so we'll save money on the cap so we can build a war chest
Well it’s up to Bula and Luai to prove their value, win us more games than we lose in 2026 and nobody can question them if that happens.
It’s time to stop blaming our 400k and less valued players and let the players on big money prove their worth like their equivalents at the top clubs do.
Corey Jensen, Kobe Hetheribgton, Tyson Smoothy, Jack Gosiewski, Ben Taity and Corey Paix just to nane a few played valued roles in the Broncos premiership success.
Could any of those players come to Wests Tigers and make a big difference?
The answer is no, they are no better than the squad players we have, the difference is the quality and x-factor provided by the big name players.
No more excuses for our highly paid by name players in 2026.

Why does everyone think the Dogs want him? If they are genuinely paying players under the table and there is mutual interest … I doubt it matters what we do …

Bula is certainly capable of more improvement, how much improvement is the million dollar question.
IF we re-sign him for 750k - 800k think he’s worth the risk as it still should leave some cap cash up our sleeve to add some other good quality players whether that be for 2026 or 2027.
I’m sceptical that he signs with us for 800k or less, I suppose we will soon see.

Truth in that.
For some reason Dogs dont believe Tracey is the answer, despite being in the top 5 of Dally Ms before he got injured.
Hes good but not great, and made too many mistakes at the pointy end of the season.Maybe still carrying injuries?
If Dogs want Bula, and more importantly if he wants out, they will make it happen

I’d pay him 750k. 900k seems like a huge overpay though . For me , I’d be looking hard at AJ Brimson, as a backup option Hopefully the vibes are good with Bula and he’s keen to stay . For me though like I said before , as soon as the Galvin stuff went down , I’d have had huge reservations on what the future was looking like at fullback for this club .
But I took the point of a few people , in that you kinda don’t want to create the problem you’re trying to prevent ie. Bula Leaving .
My guess is it all gets sorted one way or the other around January when everyone is back on deck .
