Signings, Suggestions & Rumours Discussion

Based on my analysis below we need coverage at FB, Hooker and Lock.

There is a huge difference in the best players in those positions and the next man up.

The halves you can shuffle with. Madden is a competent first grader.

FB: Bula/Mason

OB: Turuva/Skelton/May/Toa/Makasini/L Laulili/Saukuru

5/8: Luai/Andrews

HB: Douhei/L. Fainu/Madden

Prop: May/Pole/Twal/Hunt/Brown/Afoa/K Laulili

HK: Koroisau/Hope/Haywood

BR: Sam Fainu/Sione Fainu/KPP/Roberts/Geyer/Seyfarth/Sukkar/Godinet/Taupau-Moors

Lock: Bird
Remember Turuva can play fullback.

We.could try and replace Bird with Keon or Tino....but there goes our cap.

So which is it?

You constantly whine about both scenarios
You have answered your own question.
The successful NRL clubs manager to get the right balance in having top quality players who are influential and help their team achieve success on the field and lower tier players who play their role and help them stay under the Salary Cap.
The NRL ladder over the past 10 or so years clearly indicates Wests Tigers do not get this right.
I have been banging my head against the wall constantly explaining on this forum, if our highly paid influential players cannot get us enough wins to be successful, it means there is clearly a problem.
I read many uninformed comments trying to say players such as Alex Seyfarth or Alex Twal are the ones causing us to fail, I’ve never heard so much crap in my life.
That is like saying we could bring in Corey Jensen, Kobe Hetherington and Tyson Smoothy from the Broncos premiership winning team in place of Seyfarth, Twal and one other and we automatically become successful.
For the hundredth time the lower tier squaddies on lower tier contracts do not determine a teams success, it is the highly paid players that determine how successful a team is.
If that doesn’t break it down in plain English as to why our bigger name players come under the spotlight from myself and quite a few others, than I don’t know what will.

Ok - so tell me what “top quality”players you want the Wests Tigers to sign for the 2026 season ?

Our management have already missed the boat and stuffed it up for us again in 2026.
If they have any brains at all they would now be frantically correcting this for 2027.
The first step in that orocess should be advising both Luai and Bula we have no time for silly games from them or their managers, this is our best offer and we need it accepted prior to November 1 otherwise we will make other plans.
If that does not happen we are likely to miss another boat and we will have to wait until 2028 at the earliest before we can hope for a highly successful season.

The 2027 players are still not available yet to be approached … and there is no current media connecting them to the Tigers as that would indicate tampering..,

A few of us were trying to have a discussion this morning about the story about Brown and you were melting down …it’s a message board and we want to discuss what is going on with the team now ??

Do you really think that if Luai and Bula walk that will help us attract the players to the club that we need ?
Your read on moving forward is so way off imo. You mighten rate them but they hold weight with the players, and if they don't buy in good luck convincing others when you can guarantee the ones we want will have other options than us alone.

You are not melting down ?
Our 2 highest paid players who many on this forum think are immortals in waiting, both claim they love the club and it’s a brotherhood, but cannot back that up by signing a contract prior to November 1.
All talk, no action,

Nice strawman ….

Who are the elites they are gunna sign for 2027 then ?

So what do we do, just let them keep us hanging for as long as they like and miss out on an opportunity sign quality replacements.
We then run the risk they could ask for more money or change their mind and head elsewhere?

Do I really have to tell you, you have seen who is currently off contract for 2027.
If we play the waiting game for another month or so and all the top quality players currently available for 2027 are then signed, it means we have no choice other than to re-sign Luai and Bula no matter what their asking price is.
Their managers are very smart.

The Tigers should start showing some strength - if you don't want to play for us for the money we're offering move on. Quick and surgical and then let other managers know you are willing to discuss potential replacements within the structure of how the Tigers want their salary cap to look going forward.

So what do we do, just let them keep us hanging for as long as they like and miss out on an opportunity sign quality replacements if they end in changing their mind and head elsewhere?
You don't know what stage they are at with negotiations. And I can guarantee if they head elsewhere that will be red flag stuff for others and won't have players lining up to come to this club unless they are mercenaries or seeking the retirement fund.

Right luai and bula have not put themselves in the top end bracket AS yet , but who could we get if we let them walk , I am hoping luai comes good next season , as for Bula the bloke needs to watch some reels of TEDDY and even WALSH , on how they bring themselves into the games , I think we need a class lock and a good backup backrower and I feel that would get us in the top 8 , hang in there , it’s coming , but we need all the class we got

I would like to know who you consider to be an available “elite “ and think would consider joining the club ?
I would like to know as a loyal and passionate Wests Tigers fan how long you are prepared to wait for high profile, high cost players such as Luai and Bula to commit to the club from 2027 onwards before it becomes a concern to you ?
