Signings, Suggestions & Rumours Discussion

IMO Toa's defence at the beginning of last year was impressive. We were caught short a number of times and his ability to move and come up with the tackle was great. Fast forward a couple months and he was diabolical defensively. The guy is just so confusing. Not many in the comp can match his ability to make a break from nothing. At his best he is a genuine strike centre who you just give early ball to and say "get it done". At his worst he is not a first grader

He was great at the start of the year … played above his size and brought some physicality that we often lack …

But come the last third of the year .., he was beyond terrible .. if this was due to injury, then he was a liability and shouldn’t have been playing ..if otherwise then I really question their judgment…

They used less players then us last year, they won 3 more games out of 24 so better but not much, they scored a lot of points but conceded as many as us. We played them once in Brisbane and we beat them convincingly when they were close enough to full strength.

We're they better then us yes, but not much better and they haven't improved the roster really other then if and s big IF flegler comes back

A third more wins than us is significant… there is a lot of difference between 9 and 12 wins
We should have a wager on who finishes ahead of who next season … i am quite bullish on them and Top 4 is not out the question

They started the season 0-4 which includes the loss to us .., and were flying mid season .., they had long term injuries to a lot of their class players and still just missed the 8…losing Farnsworth was the final nail..

They beat the Storm by 20 and we know what they did to us

Seriously, grow up.

Look, America is crap. Looking to them is like looking at a full toilet bowl for inspiration. They are crap.
You have to go there to get the racism of the place. We went to Georgia and were told "why did you catch the train, that's only for bl##k people"!!

I could mention Thurston, Sandow.. But instead I will mention George Gregan. The NR1 Union Scrum Half. Australia's most capped player.

Race doesn't matter, talent does. Particularly at halfback.
Did you even read the previous comments or are you just having a rant?
Thanks for nothing.

Canterbury no direction
Manly injures and old
Dolphins need forwards
Titans will climb
Newcastle s!ht fight
St George need about 10 players
Cowboys need a rocket but players to soft
Souths need a fullback half and 5/8

Tigers players have a lot of improvement in them

Latus will improve
Bula will improve
Luai will improve
Tino Skeleton Masi Star May will all improve
KPP will improve

The Tiger's on the way up just need to keep the squad together
A fully fit Souths team will definitely climb the ladder.

Parra are top 8 specials, geez they were good at the back end of last season.

I expect Manly to plummet, not sure Fogarty is the right replacement for DCE and the Turbos are on their last legs.

Titans will surely play better than last season and they have the cattle to improve.

Saints and Knights will most likely still struggle, though Saints did show they were capable last season beating both Canberra and Melbourne.

Throw the dice with Cowboys and Dolphins, any team could turn up - world beaters or chumps. Not sure of their recruitment at this stage, if it will improve them or not. I think the Dolphins have more upside.

I think the Dogs will still make the 8, maybe not as high up as this year. Their forwards are a bit lacking and they will miss Mahoney whether they think so or not.

As for us? Well, I hope like you think we will improve across the park. It’s always mental with us. We are definitely capable of finishing in the bottom half of the 8 or we could finish near last. It’s up to us. Losing games when we’re comfortably ahead is our Achilles heel and it has to stop for us to be considered an any threat at all. They way we finished last season was a disgrace.

On another note I’m tipping Cronulla to have a slight fall down the ladder.

Just my 2 cents worth, like trying to pick where the Melbourne Cup field will finish really lol.

Cannot be OK with 9th or 10th

If we arent bringing in players to improve us then the whole org. from richo to ballboys must improve.
Not interested in excuses its been 15 years.

East tigers brisbane allied to the perth bears isnt that richos former club
That is one of my issues with bringing new teams into the NRL. While the number of NRL teams increase, the pool of juniors doesn't. We have certain clubs with large junior districts attempting to fight off the predatory clubs and bring through juniors to the NRL to improve position on the ladder. Yet we have the predatory clubs with large bank balances who don't have or, have minimal juniors poaching the best from these clubs. Less powerful clubs are being set up to fail.

Soon enough we will be looking at how we fit Samuela Fainu, Kai Pearce-Paul & Phoenix Godinet into the backrow. Not in 2026 but very possible for 2027.

My left-field prediction is an evolution of Kai Pearce-Paul into the middle in the future. His height, ungainly running style, offloading ability, and strength in the hold and wrestle could wreak havoc in the middle.

Pearce-Paul is a right side backrower atm which is Godinet's preferential side. I'd rather lave Samuela Fainu on an edge with his tackle-busting ability and to forge that combo with Luai & Taylan.

So 2027, KPP to the middle, you've heard it here first & maybe last lol

How can people suggest we are better than the Dolphins ? I’m assuming you never watched them much last year … they are a much better team than us and with even a modest improvement in their shocking injury toll … they will walk into the 8

I love watching them but there forwards I don't think they have the forwards

Souths I had 50/50 but latrell mite fire Walker needs a walking stick I have a spare I take it to the pub some nights they need a hooker Fifita mite be great or Dave Taylor

I honestly want the dolphins to do well but I think they need a couple of props

Parramatta did look good back half of last year and that fullback was coming into his own

Plus the half from Melbourne will be a big bonus Lomax is a loss

I think the Tigers have the most potential of all teams next year to improve

Canberra will be interesting to watch

Sharks have peaked

Melbourne I don't rate there spine as much as other people as individuals absolutely amazing as a combination not as much I think what Bennett said about having different types of players that complement each other

I think Melbournes biggest problem is that there spine is to off the cuff it reminds me of Benji Marshall playing he use to go in and out of games play amazing for 20 minutes the disappear for 60 minutes

I think that's the reason why Melbourne drop out of games they don't have any grinders in the spine no one thinking what's happening in 10 minutes time it's just all eyes up

interesting BWG i would’ve thought sam would be the one pushed to the middle, think he has big potential there and looks bigger this year

KPP has also played left side second row. He is adaptable but with his skillset is far to valuable an asset to throw into prop.

storm have signed Jack hetherington to replace Eli katoa 👀
probably going to get shot down in flames, but if he buys into their system 100%, he will be in Origin conversations. he is a genuine genetic freak. his testing numbers are off the charts. he's quicker than a lot of outside backs.

I don't disagree with you but Godinet should earn his place via an apprenticeship off the interchange A strike forward from the interchange can make a huge difference.

Certainly has the tools & ability, I just like what he brings as our left-edge backrower especially forming a lethal edge with Luai & May/Makasini.

I do like KPP as a backrower but just think he has what it takes to be an unorthodox but lethal middle plus Godinet may become too good to leave out within 18-24 months. Not many thought Koloamatangi would be this good as a middle 12 months ago.
