Signings, Suggestions & Rumours Discussion

Its not off if the injury is chronic as its been reported to be

What would be off is wishing injury on a fully fit player

Definitely, and the latest injury report excerpt below reads as potentially worryingly similar at the opposite end of his body.

"Starford To’a
Injury: Left foot bone stress injury.
Return: TBC"

With Taylan's dislocation adding to WT center woes, the Xerri option looks increasingly more tempting by the day.

Utter bullshit as usual! Dean Pay was only coached by Canterbury in 1989, Dean Pay's first year at Canterbury. Gould coached Penrith from 1990 to 1994, then the Roosters from 1995 to 1999.

Not that he isn't leading things now, but I don't see how Gould is relevant to that conversation, as only the "scummy club" was mentioned.

Il take a player in our team if the coach wants him , so far Benji has done pretty well
KPP , Luai , Skelton , May Snr , May Jnr , Bunty , API re sign , if he feel adding the dogs lad so be it , he knows the team , players positions , guys a centre and we are down 2 , one is injured all the time and May pending how he recovers can re injure his shoulder by reports easier than normal , we are solid but it has weakened us a bit , if for 1 year so be it , don’t rush kids , just add where we can , Toa to me is a concern

.

Well..I was wrong because it looks like they are in right now on Xerri… if they see a need for him…then let’s hope they get him hey ?

KPP signed for $550k a year … a solid signing no doubt, but more than a few had thought him a bust at Newcastle at the time of signing him ( back 9 months ago BTW) , probably why they got him at that price …I’d stop short of calling it one of the biggest moves in the comp … for now anyway although he had a promising debut

The others you compare him with are all above that price level …

Don’t forget Parra acquired our prize junior TDS after we signed KPP…Tigers might be in front for now on that one though ..
Yes but all those players come with significant question marks. Fogarty is a career mid-level half coming off one really good season, Thompson's form was way down last year, Fifita was on the massive outer at the Titans, Brown was widely panned as a horrendous overpay, Robson is pretty limited as a player. Fifita is so talented he has to be worth the risk but I wouldn't touch any of the others on their reported salaries.

Anyway, as it happens if we sign Xerri for this season only I'm largely fine with it: we're obviously stretched in the centres especially if May is out for a while (and the fact that we're in on Xerri suggests he is), so if we've got the spare cap room and it's not a long-term commitment fair enough I guess.

I'm so confused why there is interest in Xerri. He would be asking for too much, reports he's on about 300k now he would want that bumped up. May is only out for 5 weeks and we have the depth to cover that. Outside backs is somewhere we don't need to recruit at the moment. Maybe a depth/potential signing but not a walk up starter. We have about 6 first grade standard wing/centres we don't need another one.

Ideal scenario would be Xerri to us for the remainder of '26 given the injuries we have in that position and then joins Perth Bears in '27.

because we probably lose bula
xerri can play wing or centre an astute purchase that complements our squad

And so did KPP ( come with question marks) … like I said, at the time of the signing more than a few thought he had not lived up to his potential ..hence why they got him at $550 a year I think

At the end of the day … if you are happy generally how they are going about things then fine … I can see your argument…it appears I had over estimated how well Parra had done., although many neutral observers rate them above us still, whilst we tend to think we are better than them and diminish the moves they have made … time will tell on that ..

In respect of our team , personally i I feel a bit better that they have made a move for Xerri whether they get him or not .. it shows they are at least trying to improve the team to do well now .., The last big move ( excluding some younger and bottom of the roster guys) they had made was KPP which had been back in June…

I guess this weekend could answer a few questions, if Souths tear us to shreds through the outside backs, then maybe our depth isn't as strong as we thought.

Have been thinking about the Xerri situation and our dilemma with our best two centres injured, starting to come around to going after him, the rest of the year sounds good as a lot of us have suggested.

Trouble is will that be appealing to him, Benji work your magic.

Magpies director Alan Fallah stood down after accusing NSWRL of racism

The Western Suburbs Magpies director has been sensationally stood down an after labelling the NSWRL “racist” following a controversial social media post.

Former hooker Alan Fallah has been sensationally stood down as a Western Suburbs Magpies director after labelling the NSWRL “racist.”

Fallah was issued with a NSWRL code of conduct breach notice for bringing the game into disrepute last week before being sent a second breach notice on Wednesday.

He has now been suspended as a Magpies board member – and any involvement with the NSWRL Referees Association and Cronulla-Sutherland Junior Referees Association – ahead of a judiciary hearing on April 8.

Fallen was told to front the NSWRL after sharing a doctored image on Facebook depicting Canterbury’s injury list which included an image of Ali Khamenei, the Iranian dictator killed by US forces.

The manipulated list stated Khamenei was out injured ‘indefinitely’ through a ‘Burton bomb’. Fallah then wrote: “The Dogs have a few injury concerns.”

Fallah, 67, was hit with his first breach notice amid talk he could be banned from attending any games or being a Magpies director.
But the threat didn’t frighten Fallah, who played 113 NSWRL first grade games for Wests between 1984 and 1990.

Fallah, born to Lebanese parents who emigrated to Australia, returned to Facebook on Tuesday night to take a heavy-handed whack at the NSWRL.

“Hey NSWRL, mocking the death of an evil dictator responsible for the annihilation of thousands of his own people is not racist, it’s POLITICAL!” Fallah posted.

“My dad would be cheering from heaven, knowing the sponsors of Hezbollah who have completely ruined his beautiful country of Lebanon are now being destroyed!

“The only racism on show is YOU, the NSWRL targeting me, when it was posted and shared all over the internet by hundreds of others.”

But a NSWRL spokesperson said Fallah had been issued an amended breach notice and would be immediately stood down as a Magpies director.

“NSWRL has issued Alan Fallah with an amended breach notice which has been referred to the NSWRL Code of Conduct Panel for a hearing on 8 April 2026,” said the spokesperson.

“He has been immediately stood down from any rugby league involvement pending the outcome of the hearing. This precludes him from having any involvement with Western Suburbs Magpies, NSWRL Referees Association and Cronulla-Sutherland Junior Referees Association.

“Fallah has published some Facebook posts which some people could have found offensive.

“Individuals are entitled to any private political opinion they want to hold but, as a senior official of one of our member clubs and a member of the NSW Referees Association and Cronulla-Sutherland Junior Referees Association, he is not entitled to use Rugby League and another one of our member clubs as a tool to promote his private political opinions.

“His actions are brought into particular focus in a week where the NRL is celebrating Multicultural Round and our organisation is celebrating the ‘Game for All’ round culminating in an Inclusion Gala Day on Sunday.”

Some on Facebook condemned Fallah’s original post whereas others claimed it was just cheeky fun.

The drama around Fallah – who represented Country First and Country Seconds in the early 1980s – comes just a few days after Wests Tigers scored an impressive win over North Queensland at Leichhardt Oval.

Is V ok?

Sounds like there’s a spot up for grabs.

I wonder if it will be filled through a democratic process or a system whereby we vet possible candidates to find the most qualified and competent person?

Where I don’t think Fallah’s post was anything more than attempt to be funny and if it was done by a random 20 year old kid nothing would have been said. In saying that, it was very dumb for a offical to put his name to it on an open social media platform.

Given his role in the game of being a referee and a board director, he should know better to post his personal views online. He’s entitled to his opinions, but he went the wrong way of expressing them.

It's a reoccurring theme across the whole group though isn't it, all capable of doing something stupid to different levels of degree.

Don’t think anything will be done until after April 8th at the moment it’s just basically a suspension.
