Signings, Suggestions & Rumours Discussion

Seeing though our owners consider us a destination club, I assume we are making moves for Reece Walsh and Dylan Edwards...

Jokes aside... Assuming bula does want to leave, I think we dig our heels in and activate the 2027 clause. Gives us another 12-16 month to get Reece Walsh over here... or someone of that calibre.

lol …Reece Walsh ….

people on the forum are considering RTS at FB…bit of a difference there ..

you believe what someone says on the forum ? 😂…. Look , anything is possible but you think the media would be all over that Crichton story, and Xerri is probably already out the door by now … when it first broke, the story I heard was he was gunna get traded to Penrith for Tago ..people just make stuff up these days
Maybe Tago might want to come here and even play a bit of first grade for this year and help us out with our current injury problems.

Isn't he cousins or some sort of relation to the May brothers or is just that everyone is a Cuz.

I’ll take Tago is he is free ….ill take any guy with some first grade experience at the position..

Benji Marshall denies Tigers interest in Xerri and Drinkwater, rejects team’s ‘last resort’ reputation

Neither Bronson Xerri nor Scott Drinkwater will be targets for the Wests Tigers, as coach Benji Marshall pushes back against his team’s reputation as a last resort for disgruntled NRL players.

Benji Marshall has ruled out making a play for disgruntled Canterbury centre Bronson Xerri.

Despite his admiration for Xerri, Marshall was adamant the Tigers are not interested in signing the Bulldogs star.

“I like Bronson, he’s a really good kid, really good footy player, but we’re not looking at Bronson,” Marshall said.

Marshall also put a halt to talks that Cowboys fullback Scott Drinkwater would be joining the Tigers, with the May deadline to take up Jahream Bula’s club option looming in the near future.

The club is trying to extend Bula, but at a worst case, would retain the fullback for at least the next year.

“We got a fullback,” Marshall said

“I like Drinkwater, really good player.

“We’re not looking at Drinkwater either.”

Marshall’s days of having the Tigers be a last resort for players is over, with the speculation baffling him to why every disgruntled player gets linked to the club.

This weekend, despite Marshall naming him on the wing, Sunia Turuva will replace May in the centres.

Marshall named Turuva on the wing so he can keep his same jersey number through the year.

The combination of Turuva and Jeral Skelton will take on the lethal left edge of Latrell Mitchell and David Fifita, with defence a huge emphasis for the club this weekend.

“For us it’s just trying to do a job on them,” Turuva said.

“After what we just done on the weekend with our right edge-I think we’re pretty confident we can do the job.”

Sounds like case closed to me!
Didn’t Shaun Mielekamp more or less say it simply comes down to dollar value ?
I took it as Bula is asking for one figure, we are currently offering him a slightly lesser figure and Benji has been upfront and honest by saying let’s give it a few months into this season to then determine if we are willing to pay the exact figure Bula is looking for.
I don’t think Benji or Wests Tigers can be much fairer than that.

RTS is on $650k at the Warriors. Seems low so I'd suggest it'd have to be more than that but maybe not as much as Bula...
RTS signed that deal after coming back from a multi-million rugby deal. He is also much older and been told he won't be re-signed by the Warriors. I highly doubt his next contract is anything above 450k given his age

It's the acting injured after every tackle slowing down any chance of a quick play the ball, then walking back and limping in defence to miss his player and put us under pressure multiple times a game that I'm not a fan of with Starford
To be fair he probably does injure himself in every tackle

No mate, I was just trying to point out that Gould wasn't involved with the Bulldogs while Pay was coaching them. I forgot to put in Pay's coaching period, which was 2018, 2019, and part of 2020. To say Gould was involved in his sacking is merely conjecture in my opinion, as around that time, he was a consultant for the Warriors. Please forgive me.
Interesting. I never mentioned Gould. Just "Bulldogs".

What’s all the worrying about ?
