Signings, Suggestions & Rumours Discussion

Suli has a bad attitude and would not fitnthe culture we are building. The way people are talking down Averillo reminds me of when we signed KPP last year, pace to burn, plays on the right and will be a great back up fullback like a Nick Meaney. I doubt Fins will release him now but he would be slot straight into right centre
Agree. Averillo is a well skilled centre and 25 in a position we have no first graders. Will drastically improve the team. Same sort of comments when we signed Turuva and KPP.

Suli and Leilua are interesting topics of conversation.
Yes both have had issues with being labelled lazy trainers and backing that up with lazy on field displays during their career and yes both are unwanted by the Dragons who have only just won their first game of the season.
However anyone who has watched all of the Dragons games this season will tell you they have generally been in their top 3 players each time they have played.
When on their game they are both extremely powerful and aggressive ball runners who can rapidly swing momentum in their teams favour.
I aim not sure about Suli’s current fitness levels, but he has not been dropped from NRL in a long time, so playing under a hard task master in Shane Flanagan, you would assume he no longer has the poor attitude and fitness issues he had in his younger days.
Plenty of players mature and change their attitude for the better with age and experience.
Luciano Leilua come into this season ripped and fitter than he has ever been.
It’s probably unlikely we show any interest in either of them and even if we did, their cost probably rules us out, but if we are being fair dinkum, both would improve our top 17 if they were on our books.
Although totally opposite types of players, I would personally prioritise Jake Averillo ahead of Suli, but Suli is 100 miles ahead of the likes of To’a and Herbert or even Turuva or Makasini as a centre at this stage of their careers.
Luciano would not start in our back row ahead of Samuela Fainu or KPP, but all full strength I reckon he would be very beneficial possibly starting at 13 moving Twal to starting prop, or as an interchange impact forward. The big bonus would be him being a great replacement edge back rower when we have injuries such as we do with Samuela at the moment.

Pretty sure both Suli and Luciano have been told to take a hike.
Suli can be a solid center when he is not off his tree. Doubt he will be eternally fit like Dane Gagai or Rapana.

Luciano was always going to be moved on at the end of his contract. I think he was 600k with us and the Dragons it went to 900k. No way he was providing that kind of value on field.

Honestly, I'd take Luciano back if the coin was reasonable.

He may be a bit lazy or whatever, but as bench impact, he'd be great for us in a position we have no depth in. Particularly if it's true we are flicking Seyfarth. I wonder if he could do a job in the middle for impact like Hunt does now?

Suli, not so much unless he was happy to switch over this year to play out the remainder of the season for injury cover.

A wildcard potential right centre recruit if we don’t land Jake Averillo is a 20y.o emerging star in Mark Tualiii currently at the Raiders.
I’m not 💯 certain he is available as o did hear comments earlier this season suggesting he had extended with the Raiders, but Zero Tackle still has him on the uncontracted list for 2027 and beyond.
If still available we would surely be having a good look at him, he is an attacking freak with plenty of speed and strongly built.
He is a genuine star in the making and would likely be a better attacking player than Averillo by the time the 2027 season commences.

On NRL Tonite...last night...they said he hurt it during the team song

They had Vision.of him jumping up and down doing the song then turning away with a limp.

Ive heard.people say after the game it couldnt be too bad an injury because he was junping up and.down in the team song...and i havent seen footage of Seyfarth taking him out...so a bit confusing all round
It came from Nrl physio saying Twal hurt his knee from friendly fire...

I’ve always supported and defended Seyfarth being part of our NRL interchange rotation and I still think he is as good if not better than quite a few others who are part of rival teams interchange, but if we had an opportunity to offload Seyfarth and replace him with Luciano Leilua we would be crazy not to do it.
LL might only have 2 good NRL seasons left in him, but that’s all we would need him for.

$400k per season is miles off big coin. Pull your head out of your backside. Averillo got injured, then Jack Bostock came back from injury and got played at centre and did it so well that he was talked about for origin. (And will play origin one day) The Dolphins are blessed with backline talent. We are not. You mentioned Maka and May but they both play exclusively on the left. And To'a is a liability and will likely be
Whatever camel romancer!
I can have an opinion, not led by tools like you lot. Origin yeah sure who was that bright spark?? Heard nothing.
U know for a fact $400k, who bunji told u personally??
Time will tell on how great your bulldogs reject goes, where’s he playing with Maka and Taylan who we already payed big dollars for. Rumours aerials been promised first go at Luai’s spot.

Not for me. Purely for culture reasons. I wouldn't punt a gut whose renowned for being close to the hardest workers in the squad at training and games for a guy who has been here before and was a dressing room cancer and one of the laziest trainers in the NRL

Reading pages back interesting takes on Suli and Luciano.

For those who can remember Suli got the arse for sleeping in his car instead of turning up to training and blew out to 130kgs plus and at the time was reported holding marshmallow nights, sitting on his arse and eating bags of them.

Luciano cracked the shits and left because his fat arsed brother Joey was moved on, was warranted, terrible signing.

Should the club look to bring them back F no.
(Sorry Chrissy had to be said).

If we are being moralistic you are correct RHS.
If you would like us to be a 6 or more point better team, then your moralistic view on potential signings should be thrown out the window.
Time heals wounds and people do sometimes change for the better.

There past seasons still prove that they are not serious about their fitness, they've had years to get ripped and show what they could of been but haven't.

It's a no way from me, Benji would be all over their short comings I doubt he would go anywhere near them.

That's certainly different if true.

Hard no. It’s not fitness that’s the issue for those guys, it’s attitude. There’s a reason they drift from losing team to losing team. We’re already trying to offload one centre who plays good once in a while, why sign others like him?
