Signings, Suggestions & Rumours Discussion

Daily Telegraph Sport Confidential: We told you a fortnight ago that the Bulldogs had a fight on their hands to keep young half Alex Conti at the club. Sport Confidential can now reveal that the ‘Dogs have won the fight after Conti agreed a new deal with the club. It is understood the young playmaker has inked a three-year deal to stay at the club and hone his craft under coach Cameron Ciraldo.

Fair leap of faith - you’d hardly say any of the spine players at the dogs are coming along at any real rate of knots…

On nrl 360 averillo salary averages at 700k a season!!! Massive overs imo

Lol they’re guessing and always inflate it.

The journalists are saying between 500-700k per season.

He isn’t taking up 700k a season would make him the 4th highest player in the squad behind Luai, Bula, and May. No chance that has happened.

Corey agreed to join us after meeting Benji & Richo but backflipped when he & Ricky worked through their issues. Had Raiders granted him a release when he first asked them he would have signed with us. I haven’t watched enough of him this year. Is he going ok?
Would have been Corey and no Terrell. Do I have that right?

It is probably fair to say that Corey's form has mirrored that of the Raiders over the last 2 years. He was a real star last year leading the forward pack to a minor premiership. He hasn't had the same impact this year and has suffered with discipline and run ins with refereeing decisions. Still he is only 28 years old and is in the Raiders team to play the Dragons this weekend. Sticky has gone off him due to him taking his aggressive approach too far. However he does have a very good reason for his frequent brain snaps. He does have red hair. And we all know about that!

Canberra Raiders star Daine Laurie was a surprise omission from the Green Machine's line-up to face the St George Illawarra Dragons on Sunday.

Laurie has played nine games for the Raiders this year, making his club debut in Round 8 against his former side, the Wests Tigers.

It has now been revealed by The Canberra Times that the NRL's Integrity Unit has handed the star utility a one-match suspension for a preseason incident.

He will also be given an undisclosed fine and education from the NRL on top of the suspension.

The publication is also revealing that police allegedly seized "a small amount of cocaine" during a patrol around Penrith in September last year.

The Panthers were pulled up for not reporting Laurie's incident to the NRL, breaching the league's code of conduct, resulting in an undisclosed fine.

Laurie was still under contract with the Panthers at the time, meaning it fell under their jurisdiction.

The 26-year-old star was due to front a Sydney Local Court in November for the alleged incident, but charges were dropped by police and received a fine instead.

The Raiders will welcome back Simi Sasagi into the line-up for the Dragons clash, returning from a shoulder injury ahead of schedule.

The nation's capital will have to go on a serious run if they are any chance of a late push for the Top 8, and are currently dwelling in second last place tied with the Titans.
