Signings, Suggestions & Rumours Discussion

Good post @weststigers: Very often when a young bloke has grown up re your "around domestic violence and probably didn't have the best role models around him" in many cases unless that is treated correctly by a psychologist it can lead that person onto a very un-happy life by doing the wrong thing and not realising/understanding why.

Again as you say " he served 9 months for the offences and hasn't re-offended since.

I know nothing about Zane but to me, it seems he has paid a heavy price for his mistakes as his girlfriend has also.

Let's hope for his sake wether he plays for Wests Tigers or not he stays on the right path to a happy life.

And very often people like Zane go on to be excellent role models for others on the wrong path. :santa: :snowman: :christmas_tree:

Wasn’t there a bit of talk we’d signed or we’re about to sign a really good young backrower named Joshua Schuster?

Just read an article online which said that T-Rex and Schuster were originally named in Manly’s top 30 for next year, but we’re removed around the same time as the Fainu incident. Not sure why and the article didn’t really clarify it.

He’s been touted as a really good prospect so looks like we’ve missed out on him.

Please stay on topic and get back to discussing domestic violence issues

Firstly, he didn't serve any time so he hasn't paid any price for his mistakes. Secondly, please highlight some domestic violence offenders that have gone on to become excellent role models. You said it happens very often so I imagine you'd have numerous examples?

@hodgo take up your issues with the NRL. If the clubs have the green light to sign players like him then they can and should. If other clubs would sign him without hesitation why should we take the moral high ground and face another year of coming 9th while an opponent strengthens their squad?

No-ones saying what he's done isn't awful. But we could put him front and centre of our own anti domestic violence campaigns, making him acknoeldge his mistakes, talking a bit of his own experiences the situations he put himself into, the challenges he's faced and what he's doing now to ensure they never happen again. Use his learnings as a means for others who are finding themselves or their friends/family potentially getting caught in similar situations, the warning signs, and measures one can take to stop and take a breath and ensure they don't inflict pain on others.

@hodgo the Parliamentary website has links to DV and stats on the rate of violence experienced by women including dv related homicide. I would like to read the views of our female members.

Look at the causes which are Illuminating

@hodgo the lack of insight from you is crazy ! Nobody is debating how atrocious this act is , let alone the extreme damage this has inflicted on his victim .
But by sweeping it under the rug as well as banning him the outcome is the same . Zero rehabilitation and zero accountability.
From all accounts the guy , has tried to change his life , regardless of the severity of his punishment .
I grew up with a lot of Pacific Islander mates , that DV in the household was considered taboo , sure, but unfortunately normal .
It’s not until a lot later in life that the consequences and repercussions of those actions become really known to them . I’m not at all victim blaming , or saying this guy gets a pass , but If he truely has changed his ways , at the very least he offers a cautionary tale .

We should never have let Robert Lui go when he bashed his wife.
Cost us dearly the years after he left. We were on fire 2010 and 2011.

Can you guys ā€œpleaseā€ get this topic off this thread please. Happy for you to carry on with your thoughts at a heading that I can ignore.
But this is not the place to have 3+ pages of ramblings about an unrelated topic.

By the way most of us have some firsthand knowledge (either a a child or an adult) about this ..... so don’t kid yourselves you have the market cornered about what’s right and what’s wrong about it.

I'm quite happy to lock this thread...if the swings and round-a-bouts continue..

DV is a serious issue for all...if you want to debate it further by all means do but start a thread on the issue in the General discussion sub forum..everyone is entitled to a say..

Yes Tetavano is a rumoured signing the debate over his past can be done in a dedicated thread..

Leave this thread for the discussion of suggestions and rumours ...thank you

@Tigerstar I’m so excited to hear if we get him aye don’t think we will know for a week or so but aye

Any one heard any news on Latrell at all? Cheers guys

Someone dropped an ''I know something you don't'' post this morning about Madge scoring, I'm assuming in relation to footy. Could have been about LM, or could have been talking out his ringer.
