The Tigers continue to reshape their roster with a number of key signings and re-signings. The club will soon announce the recruitment of Luciano Leilua to fill the void left by the departure of Ryan Matterson. The Dragons had at one point contemplated a Leilua-Matterson swap, although the latter instead returned to Parramatta.

The Tigers have exacted some revenge on the Eels with the signing of young gun Stefano Utoikamanu, who is expected to make his NRL debut next season. Utoikamanu has signed with the Tigers for three years from 2021, but they will accommodate him immediately if he is granted an early release.

I think that this may be some part of the deal to release Matterson to the Eels.

If this is the case I think we got out of it very well

However, the Eels earmarked Utoikamanu, who grew up playing against the likes of Haas and David Fifita, to make his debut in 2020 and now have a decision to make whether to keep him at the club or let him link with the Tigers immediately.

NRL.com understands Utoikamanu, who is on a development contract with the Eels and is no guarantee of being bumped up into the NRL squad, stands to earn almost triple the original offer the Eels put to him midway through the year.

The Eels raised their offer in recent weeks – and again on Thursday night in a desperate bid to hold on to him – however Utoikamanu had already reached a decision.

Who does everyone think we should target to replace Benji at 6? I think that Brimson would be a perfect replacement but it seems that he wants to play fullback instead of in the halves. Hopefully Jock Madden kicks on this year but I wouldn’t mind having a crack at Dylan brown from parra

I like that idea because the Kiwi coach will be looking for a new hal and we will have the Eels circling the wagons. The young Panther half from Dubbo goes well.

@Celticguy97 can’t see madden taking brooks spot, but I believe madden is still a coulee of years out anyways...as for 6 milf would be good for less then 700k but I’d much prefer we use Mbye as 6

I have a feeling that both Smith and McIntyre are on borrowed time unless they can produce outstanding improvement during pre season trials. If we can clear more cap space before 2020 kick off OR some of our new players trialing show they are worthy of a top 30 contract ...... then I’m afraid, they may be in a gun.

Wouldn't mind making a play for Dylan Brown. Would be nice to see eels fans sweat a bit more.
