@Jimmy this is not true . His short kicking game is now top notch . The last 2 years he has the most forced line drop outs , have a look at the stats . He , just like all halves , is susceptible to the sticking your leg out defensive tactic now being employed. The short passing game is severely hindered by the sweeping block play , run by the FB . When teddy was here so many tries , and opportunities were created because of teddy just being there . Also , rowdy , was posing less and less of a threat with his hole running .
This now allows the defensive to not have to jam as much , negating the cutout ball, and sweeping overlap .
The lack of FB , as good as Thommo has been , is a real cause . Also Garner coming on , really creates options . I feel Thommo didn’t get a lot of ball , because his passing game is below average , and unless the hole was there , the play would die .

@Strongee yes brooks is great at gruber kicks, but imo still doesn’t have a good chip kicking game like benji does....look at the way guys like Cleary, Cronk, brooks move...their movement if often more clunky and slower, perfect for the half back as they can dig into the line pass the ball to a proper 5/8 with that finesse, it’s hard to explain, more of an eye test I guess.

@Jimmy I’m not trying to argue with you , but the chip kick is a low percentage play due to the proximity of players. It’s not 1989 where big lumbering forwards were half asleep, so there was space behind the ruck .
I don’t really understand what you’re saying , as all players you’ve mentioned are what I would call a “half” neither halfback or five-eighth.
Like I said , you add a genuine threat from the back , a dynamic hole runner , to run the in /out and vise versa , now a half can really take advantage . I mean marsters was a passenger this year , and it wasn’t until garner came on that the edge looked decent . I just don’t agree . If Brooks was wearing a blue , red and white jersey , or had Lebanese heritage , so was coached by a certain someone , he would be much higher rated . The only real way to change this , is for other teams like The tigers to change the narrative .

The kid has played an extra 2 months this year. Let him have a break. When the time is right he will sign with whoever he feels is the right destination. There is nothing to talk about so majority of these journalists are talking complete rubbish to get a story. The talk on this forum about enforcing deadlines and he is not loyal and he is playing us is completely stupid and unfounded. He is 23 and this next contract goes a long way to securing his future, so understand it, respect it and expect it to take time.

@Strongee agreed, I rate brooks...as a 7 not a 6 was responding to people saying brooks and Townsend as a combo, it just would not work
