Signings, Suggestions & Rumours Discussion

Momo was terrible at first stint with anything for us, fights his Way thru, then start shining. Could he be our sleeper CNK? Tall, football smarts who seem to get himself in the right place at the right time, ex half so a ball player with kicking skills not to mention fast developing goal kicker.

If he had some speed about him, I would’ve supported you.

SOUR XERRI

Boom centre Bronson Xerri still wants out at Cronulla but is unlikely to find a new home at the Sydney Roosters with best mate Kyle Flanagan.

We can reveal a third party has contacted the Roosters offering Xerri for next year. Apparently he’s prepared to do a ‘Ryan Matterson’ and walk out on the Sharks.

The Roosters are reluctant. They have already earmarked two players to step into Latrell Mitchell’s spot at left centre — boom youngster Billy Smith or Brett Morris.

Xerri is apparently not happy about Jesse Ramien’s signing on much more money than he’s earning. Many rate Xerri a future Origin player. (Daily Telegraph)

* Make a play for him, Madge!

B****y oath!!

Xerri is an absolute weapon. He’s a young bloke you throw a 4 year 500k deal at. If we could somehow steal him I’d be cheering.

Way i look at it is we have 4 spots left. Musgrove will take one and likely Br a d Abbey another. 1 spot is looking for a big money fullback option and the other we will leave until later on to see whats out thier mid season. Only way we find others is if we release Mcqueen or Reynolds which prob would have happened already of we found a buyer

What about Caleb Aekins or Charlie Staines, as fullback options?

Aekins is signed with Penrith until end of 2020. Staines is signed with Penrith until end of 2021.

No to Mitchell chasing around $1,200,000?
His head is to big and seems to have lost his passion

Yes to
Xerri $500,000
Addo Carr $500,000
Lomax $400,000 yet to prove himself
3 is definitely better than one and I believe they all still have a passion for the game
Likelihood of happening is like winning the Powerball
But hey some eventually wins

Reports say Mitchell chasing $1M. I don’t think you’d get any of those 3 guys at that price.

My best guess:

JAC $700k
Xerri $650k
Lomax $500k

First time poster, long time lurker

Why haven’t we gone for someone like Nat Butcher? Great work rate and could fill our 13 jersey nicely. Yet to re-sign and could come at a decent price (similar to Matterson). I think he ticks all the boxes?

Yeah 100%

First priority should be a gun fullback and secondly a centre. I think our pack is looking a lot better than the outside backs. We have a decent pack, pretty good halves and average outside backs.

What is the obsession with more forwards? We have enough and besides his younger brother is potentially a far better player. Our outside backs are glaringly weak and it looks as though we will be relying on Talau and his mates from the Under 20s to provide pace and elusiveness.

Gun fullback or centre?

If we get a centre, I still think Thommo is good enough at the back.

I hope JAC comes home in a year or so.

Not to say we don’t need backs.

But I think we might be underestimating how much we will miss Matterson’s work rate. We aren’t spoiled for metre-eaters and tackling machines (apart from Twal). And without a solid hooker, our middle defence looks weak.

Obviously we need a fullback first but some quality forwards wouldn’t go astray

We need more than a fullback. Besides Talau, our centres are slow and lack any kind of penetration. We need at a minimum, a fullback and centre. Not run of the mill types eithers, top quality.

Mbye and Talau is a good centre pairing. I agree with Earl - I think fullback should be our top priority (Hooker is the other one).

Mybe is too small for centre. He was a stop gap last year until we signed the real centre. We haven't signed anyone yet!

I thought he looked great in the centres last year, particularly as the season went on.

I was expecting very little from his centres move, but he showed some genuine pride and aggression.
