Signings, Suggestions & Rumours Discussion

We still need a reliable fast running (tall) fullback .. as good as Thomo was .. we were found out a few times under the high ball .. players simply out jumped Thomo towards the end of last season.

Zac Lomax is tall, strong and fast .. and is a reliable goal kicker at that .. with some proper goal kicking training the kid could be what we need .. so I reckon we go after him and the Fox with the money we now have.

For the forward we now have Zane Musgrove back on deck, he ain't gonna cost us a lot .. so now we should get that Parra kid that we signed for 2021 .. if he comes across at the start of this season or forwards will have enough grunt. From all reports this kid is another Haas and Fifita i the making .. they are the same age so let get him on board now and let him loose .. !!

All our props could fail though.
Mikaele may not back up, Packer may deliver the same as this year, Musgrove hasn't played NRL for 2 years and the parra guy may not be here.
We need a prop that you know will deliver.

I like Milford
He is often quite dangerous in attack and has great short bursts of speed
Can also be quite illusive at times
I think his problem is he looks a little disinterested in playing for the Broncos at times
I can't remember the last time I have seen him smile
Maybe he wants out
When he was signed by the Broncos he was expected to be thier messiah
I think the pressure wore him down somewhat
The same is happening to Boyd
Broncos are a big club with big expectations and results
If Milford came to the Tigers he may feel the pressure released a little which in turn may allow him to play his natural game
Which is more of a running game
Then maybe we will see more of the Canberra Milford
If that could happen then I am sure most on here would say yes to Milford

A reluctant Yes to milf but on nowhere near the dollars he tricked the Broncos in to parting with.

He simply has not delivered since leaving the raiders.

We have enough dead wood already without assuming additional risk

If he "has not delivered" or we have "enough dead wood", why the hell would you even have a second thought about Milf.

Let this settle in...
We have lost Marsters , Matterson, Matulino, Fonua, Farah & Rochow.. (5 starters)

We have gained the following with first grade experience - Walters (1 or 2 games) and ............ Nothing

Sorry but that is not good enough for a club with the money we have available.. I understand LL from Dragons might be coming but until it announced it is not happening..

If they think we will be better with these guys gone and the younger ones added they are kidding themselves..

Something does not seem right here as we are nearly Dec and other teams are playing there cards and all we seem to be doing to sitting in the corner with our fingers crossed hoping that LM comes to us..

@hsvjones the thing about these sort of posts is that you, like me and everyone else in this forum have no idea what's going on in terms of negotiations and signings but still people continue to post negative rubbish about the club. I like the fact that everything is under wraps and not leaking out to the press. It's not for us to know! Be positive mate, the club is in the best position it has been for years, so look forward!!

Negative Rubbish ......??

The actual facts Jack until something actually happens .....

Perception isn't fact

So we haven't lost Farah ,Fonua ,Matterson , Rochow and Marsters

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QM5eIqoZmiw

Any club that hopes to play finals football has to lose first graders of the standard of Fonua & Rochow.

Effectively (he came off development list at the same time as Fonua was injured) Fonua was replaced by Talau which Im Ok with. Hate to say it but Rochow is replaceable by whatever young second rower we get.

Matterson was a good player, Masters a solid first grader, Farah has been a legend but his performance in 2019 was just first grade standard. These guys are good and need to be replaced.

You havent balanced your argument with the re-signing of Garner, Twal, Aoliai etc

If we don't sort out the front row shortage , back row shortage , hooker issue we aren't Top 8 material

And The Gunners if we are spending a million on Latrell we only have 700/800 k for 3 players ...even if we sign one more on minimum wage it still leaves 600 k for 2 players ..what prop / back rower will we get that will sure our forward pack up for 300 k each ??

Lloyd Perrott worth a shot???

Nah, not better than what we've got. We're not as bad as some are making out with forwards.
Middles are: Twal, Aloiai, Mikaele, Musgrove(?), Taylor, Packer, Eisenhuth, Clark
That's pretty solid and is actually very good depth. What it lacks is a forward leader, which is the salary cap space Packer is currently chewing up. A player like Zane Tetevano wasn't really going to improve us much, we need a JWH, AFB, Taumalolo, McLean, Klemmer, Fifita, Taupau etc. to make plenty of runs and generate momentum for the others to play off the back of. Mikaele may develop into that given his leg drive and ability to get post contact metres.
Edges are: Garner, Leilua, Lawrence, MCK, Taylor, McQueen
Depth is again fine. We're missing a real strike option but we've got 2 starters who are primed to develop into strike options.
Hooker is a mess...

Good summation, I forgot about Twal. As you say, a forward leader up front is needed.

Kayne Kalache and Mawene Hiroti still available... both would be worth it.

FG ready depth.
Could be mad hidden gems like Garner.

Think you may want to put Big Lucy in there.

Secondly, Utoikamanu if we have as development won't play NRL for first half of the year.

Parra has said their not going to release Stefano Utoikamanu from his development contract for 2020- ok, no point pointing out the obvious contradictions there- just enter into negotiations to payout his remaining development contract money for 2020.

Also have the threat, that if they dont negotiate WT will lodge a court case against Parra and Matterson alleging Parra involvement in the enciting of Patterson to renege on contract (they must have some form of evidence to create the suspicion that Parra were involved or they wouldnt have said it previously) and put a hold on Matterson playing for Parra until this is sorted.

Well you’d think we’d be able to get decent legal advice in that regard...

@Nelson Yep, I agree, I was thinking of Perrott as I thought he was strong for Manly last season. I could be wrong - probably am, but hasler would have let go of him at the dogs and then from Manly as well. Maybe it's just not a match between those two. He's a big boy and a simple role of hitting the line hard and taking defenders with him could be good for us. Given he's only on a train and trial at the broncos, he'd be cheap and worth a crack imo. Wouldn't affect a potential big name signing either should an unlikely Mitchell agreement offer itself...or a Munster, or a JAC or Frizzell or other. Just thinking of some go forward that's actually somewhat experienced and inexpensive.

First I've heard of this. No idea how accurate that is but I would so love to see it happen

Yeah he certainly wouldn't be the worst option. He's still only 24 even though it feels like he's been around for a long time and he routinely carves it up in reserve grade.

Hiroti would be good.....but he has the same manager as Lattrell.

Doubt we will be dialing that number again.

SOUR XERRI

Boom centre Bronson Xerri still wants out at Cronulla but is unlikely to find a new home at the Sydney Roosters with best mate Kyle Flanagan.

We can reveal a third party has contacted the Roosters offering Xerri for next year. Apparently he’s prepared to do a ‘Ryan Matterson’ and walk out on the Sharks.

The Roosters are reluctant. They have already earmarked two players to step into Latrell Mitchell’s spot at left centre — boom youngster Billy Smith or Brett Morris.

Xerri is apparently not happy about Jesse Ramien’s signing on much more money than he’s earning. Many rate Xerri a future Origin player. (Daily Telegraph)

* Make a play for him, Madge!

Would open a can of worms (eels) across the comp
