Signings, Suggestions & Rumours Discussion

Even Titans can sign players... We have all this money and :eyes:

We’ve signed a good bunch of juniors from Parra also recently, more than just one. That’s all this guy is. He is not a seasoned first grader and certainly not Latrell Mitchell or Jai Arrow

AJ doesn’t want to play for the tigers. He is just desperate to extend his career and no other club wants him.

If we paid $650k a year for someone who's played a handful of games, this forum would've blown up deluxe.

We have in recent past. Remember Suli?

Suli was $300k per season

I’m low key hoping that the club makes a play to bring back Suli, he would bring so much to our attack if he has the right attitude and manly would surely be struggling salary cap wise to keep him.

I get comfort from the signing of Scott Prince many years ago.
Yes he had the talent , however was also injury prone and probably never delivered on his potential .
I don’t think he was all that keen to sign with us , however he had a point to prove and ended up being instrumental in our 2005 glory .
Our other recruits that year were not big name signings (Phats and Elford come to mind , perhaps Patty too).
They were just solid first graders with a point to prove and stepped up accordingly.
It’s all about the attitude and with our current coaching staff, regardless of who we end up signing, they will bring out the best of those who wear our colours

Still pisses me off that parra who signed matterson off us wont let stefano go expecially with the depth they have in the front row.

I'd be surprised if they don't let him go. He's on a development contract - what's the point of developing him for our benefit.

Literally requested a release and was granted. But no you are right...

To prevent the strengthening of another club where there is no benefit for you.

He is not part of the top 30, they get no cap relief for letting him go, they can delay his development by keeping him in CC or the CC bench, releasing him will not help them sign another player.

We could learn a lot. You don’t release good players on cheap contracts unless you will benefit (Matterson).

When competing with another club with no cap room for the signature of a marquee player, you don’t sign their cast offs and give them cap room.

We are like a non league side playing city in the FA cup.

The Gold Coast Titans have landed a major coup by signing young gun teenage forward Tino Fa’asuamaleaui to a three-year $2 million deal.
Despite reports out of New Zealand claiming Fa’asuamaleaui had signed a four-year $2.7 million deal with the Warriors, the Melbourne Storm forward will be headed for the Titans in 2021.

Wow, I can't believe they got him. Will be a gun (though the GC are career killers)

Pressure surely on us now when even the Titans are able to land a big fish...

They have him, we have Stefano.

This isn't official yet either. Who knows, maybe we're making a last minute play for both him and Arrow?

Arrow to Souths was done weeks ago

For 2021 on, yeah.

If true, I'm happy with the AJ signing. He has a lot of upside.

He's young, he's fast, he's scored 83 tries in 123 matches and with the right coaching I can see him taking his game to the next level.

Fair points. However a player that doesn't want to be at your club can also create disharmony throughout the wider playing group. Which is why I believe we made the right decision in releasing RM.

....and that disharmony was demonstrated and not potential. The rest of the team had already written him off and sent him home from social gigs. Not a promising sign for future relations, I.E the writing was on the wall.

The next level being the NRL? Haha

Dont get me wrong hes a fine winger but he is not a fullback. Doesnt kick, doesnt pass. Thompson is similar to him bar bit extra height and speed to AJ.

I never said he was a fullback, his possible position (or signing) is just speculation ATM. What I really like is that he's experienced.

123 games for a 24yr old + international caps. That's definitely an upside.

It sounds like he has something to prove under a coach he has worked with previously. He has pace, evasion and the ability to score tries. He will strengthen our squad if he signs,

Yeh for his age your right.

So Pascoe announced during yesterday's Muppet show he'll be announcing a major signing this week...well 24hrs to go or you'll look pretty stupid I guess

If Latrell isn’t coming to the tigers, I for one would be extremely proud of management if they take NO PART in assisting souths making cap space.
Johnston is already creating mixed feelings amongst the forum, I want to see the tigers stick to their Guns of wanting to make serious changes and changing our culture and image.
If Latrell doesn’t want to sign with Tigers, then let’s stay away from souths players, signing any of their players to create cap space for Latrell just makes us look weak.
