Signings, Suggestions & Rumours Discussion

If you've seen the daily telegraph article about Lolohea, the Tigers are apparently after Hopoate too. A backline of Lolohea, Nofo, Suli, Hopoate and Naqiama/Johnston, would be 🔥🔥🔥

Reasonable backline…not exceptional.... Blake Ferguson for Naqiama/Johnston would give it a better look

A mate of mine told me he heard on Talkin Sport that Ferguson to us was a done deal. Take that fwiw.

Would come in and make our backline look much better.

1\. Lolohea
2\. Nofoaluma
3\. Ferguson
4\. Suli
5\. Johnston/Ottio

While Teddy is a huge loss, if we're able to snag yet another representative we look much better across the board and would easily compensate Teddy (sadly) not being there. Come on Ivan.

gee why cant people question why the sharks like 3-4 other clubs seem to be able to buy who ever they want, the sharks have bought every good 5/8 that has come on the market yet they were near broke.
remember, carney, barba, james.

Exactly mate, Bird was not on great money as Cronulla got him from saints juniors, so they could somehow manage to offer him over double his pay, they got Dugan instead, now there are rumours of AJ and Gray, people will naturally ask how can they do it.

Who are the highly paid stars that are eating up Cronulla's cap? Maloney was signed a few years ago on 500k. Would suggest that Dugan & Wade Graham are the highest paid player.

Fifita, Gallen, Holmes (just upgraded), Maloney on $550k wants more, Prior just rejected about 4 clubs to re-sign, just got Segyaro so he will be upgraded next year.
Add Dugan and Graham there is money invested there, the sharks surely can't out bid teams for AJ and Gray

They also said Dugan to the Bulldogs was a done deal a couple of weeks ago

Yep cant see the sharks outbidding us or the Knights if we really wanted them. Dragons could lure AJ with the 1 jumper if they really wanted him but think he is much better suited for the wing at the moment.

Probably back ended deals like how the bulldogs do it

Is Cleary likely to bring in some new coaching staff in 2018?

I'd say so - think two of his former assistants at the panthers were mentioned in rumours when ivan joined us. Can't remember their names though.

If we are linked with Hoppa and Ferguson is apparently a "done deal", where will Fonua play since he is also a "done deal". This is the backline I would very much like to see

1\. Lolohea
2\. Nofo
3\. Suli
4\. Hoppa
5\. Fergo/Fonua

I've heard that Alex Melville is a certainty to join on November 1, as for David Fairleigh it's up in the air. But take that for what it's worth.

Hoppa won't be coming here

David Fairleigh was mentioned.

That's the one and Alex Melville as jrtiger mentioned

Would people mind if I created a thread for just rumours? I'm finding it hard to see all the players we're linked to amongst all the discussion. I'm just talking about creating a list of all the players we're linked to, with sources and updated when necessary., without all the discussion.

Not sure if already mentioned, but on talking sport last night, it was said that the tigers are signing Blake Ferguson. Not sure if a good signing or not, I suppose he is a good solid rep player. Would bring size and some speed to the backline.

Yep I would take Blake..

Not that I'm a George Clooney look alike, but there is something about his head that I don't like…
