I don't think there is any dought that Doueihi will excel even more over the next few years
How much is anyone's guess
I only took notice of him in the finals last year and you can see by those performances that he has a great career ahead of him
He may not be a Tedesco or a Mitchell but he will be very good
Mitchell on the other hand may well struggle over the next few years if playing fullback
I don't think he is mentally strong enough to keep fit enough to play fullback to the best of his ability
He will need to watch his diet
I seem to remember earlier in his career he had issues with his weight and was sidelined for it
Doueihi on the other hand doesn't seem to have a problem with his weight
His nrl career is young and he looks very dangerous when he has the ball in hand
Is he worth 5 to $600,000 now
Probably not just yet
Will he be worth 5-$600,000 in the next year or two
In my opinion I would say yes if he can continue to build on his finals form
If he plays Fullback or in the Halves he will be worth far more in the future
I think we would be lucky to have him in our side
He looks quick and elusive
Yeah I know only 2 trys in his career
That will change real quick mark my words
Out of all the players with his amount of experience and game time name one that looked as dangerous and willing as he did in the finals
One who is likely to go to the next level
One that you would make a $500,000 bet on
The biggest issue I see is when he does go to the next level he will want more money and more teams will be chasing him
$500,000 won't be enough
I say get him while we can
Sure it would be great to get him for $300,000 but it won't happen
And if it somehow did he would leave just like Matterson did when he new he was worth more and wanted more
Remember a guy by the name of slimy Mitchell
He was nothing special at the time
What's he worth now
$800,000 plus a season
I know we need to be careful but we need to make this happen
We should offer a 2 year deal at $500,000 A year with a further 2 years at $600,000 in the clubs favour
If he doesn't work out no harm
We could release Doueihi at the end of 2021 if he doesn't excel further
In 2021 we will have well in excess of $3,000,000 of cap to spend
This is when the real fun begins

I would have thought as a rising star, Adam Doueihi would want a shorter contract, so he can show what he has at fullback for 2 seasons and then look around for a million dollar deal. Is he looking for insurance against injury?

I also don't think Souths want him to leave, he is just expensive now that he is not their first choice fullback.
I think he is their best bench utility
And their best backup for Latrell, who is not 100% fit and not certain to live up to his potential at fullback
And their best backup for Adam Reynolds, who had serious back issues for most of last year
And their best backup for Cody Walker, who looked like he has some serious confidence issues last year

There has to be a third option of let the club negotiate And do there job and try get south’s to pay more.

He wants to come here we want him all
It’s about is trying to get him on a fair deal it sounds like we have got BJon a decent deal I’m sure the club can get AD on a fair deal

Fullback, similar only edwards and aetkins available, both viable options and I’d assume could be pried away with a decent offer.

Do the tigers NEED that position filled for 2020? Probably not.

Tedesco is up end of 2021, bring him home? Is that even an option?

Milford is available end of 2021 as well but by then is he really the player you want? Shaun Johnson? He’s past it. Luke keary? Maybe.

These are all things that factor in to when a club looks at a player for today and what’s available tomorrow. I never get asked for the numbers on players
Off contract for the year of only. It’s always players 1-2-3 years down the track.

Maybe they view Walters as benjis heir apparent. So if they are need to shell 600k for a SPECIALIST fullback I can seE why they won’t budge for AD. He’s simply at this point not worth a 5% cap hit.

If you are using those parameters for who is available, Doueihi isn’t available either (under contract)

He’s become available by circumstance. Can’t just sit there and wait for that to happen each year

How easy it is to spend money when you have no accountability! I applaud the clubs approach. For too many years we screwed up our financial position by spending money we didn't have with backended contracts - and then Cleary! We have made Douehi a good offer he can accept it or not. Managers are holding clubs to ransom and at some point clubs have to take back control.

Tigers still got approx 1 mil to spend.Options 1 upgrade Simpkins or hope mby handles no 9. this may affect money for steffano release.Option 2 sign Doueighi
and BJ leaving leaving little money left but stronger backline.Option 3 Sign BJ and wait and see how trials eventuate and maybe get another breakout performer.

1st year reduced by at least 50k taking into account what Souths have paid him.

50k bonus if he plays origin.

Happy to take 4th year option, as long as it is completely in the clubs favour.

I realize that
The idea with the two options only was to get a clearer indication of how many people would pay that amount for him and who is willing to let him go for that amount
There is an obvious division on this forum as to what we think he is worth
It would be good to see the results

His family hate parra due to the treatment of his younger brother who had an injury and was apparently not looked after by the club

Ignorant? Wayne Bennett, the master "man manager" told Doueihi he wasnt good enough for Souffs backline. Its a statement of fact. Why do you think it is possible that the Tigers can sign him despite the fact he has more than a year to go on his contract?

Not at all. If he is better than Burns, AJ, Gagai, or Campbell Graham, I expect him to try to push himself into the team. Why cant they have AJ or Gagai playing CC if Doueihi is good enough? Did we have Reynolds and Packer in CC?

This "unproven"kid (not 20yo, almost 22, almost the same age as LM) is on $600K. You dont think that is why Bennett is pushing him out? But we should leap to Souffs aid and pay him $2.4M over 4 years? This "unproven" kid cant force himself into a spot in the Souffs backline and they have to pay him $600K, you dont think THAT is why Bennett is pushing him out?

Yeah I'm not responding to his price tag, I was just pointing out the fact I don't think it's lack of talent that keeps the kid from getting a starting spot at Souths.

Fibber is a vey kind word for him, Geo. The guy has zero morals and will tell players all sorts of bs to make them feel good, then then go back on his word and dump them mercilessly. **Yet none of them seem to be able to see what he does underhandedly and they all still think he’s great and want to play under him - it boggles the mind really.**

Yeah they all learn eventually after they become the one tapped on the shoulder. I don't believe he is as popular with his ex players as he is with current players.
