Don't really see an upside in this for us. A year of developing a young player for Melbourne, who can't get any first grade game time for them, at the expense of a starting centre and goal kicker. Are we really now a feeder club for the Storm.

I agree, there must be something else in this deal. I’d like to think it involved JAC.

We get a hooker which is a position that we literally have no one to play!

Assuming he stays injury free, and even if he does he packs his bags for Melbourne with a year of first grade experience under his belt.

We do have options at hooker, not great ones I grant you but options nonetheless. Grant has great stats in the lower grade but for a year it's not worth losing our only half decent goal kicker.

Someone on the Melbourne Storm forum (take with a grain of salt) is implying it's not a loan, he's leaving Storm.

If it's a permanent deal then that changes everything and it would be a smart move.

Still leaves us with a goal kicking issue.

Maybe it will in 2021.......you scratch our back we scratch yours .....don't have an issue

Goalkicking is a concern definitely. Hopefully MBye or another recruit can fill that void for us.

Maybe a kicker will appear from left field but i don't believe Mbye's kicking stats are good enough for a first grade kicker

What the hell is a one year player swap. Especially when Momo is off contract. I swear, this game is passing my by.

This could be the transaction that seriously opens the trade window that’s been talked about for years.
As a professional sport the game needs that kind of intrigue and flexibility for clubs. I’ve been advocating it for years and a lot of coaches are for it. The Nrl is full of prehistoric dinosaurs who are holding the game back

Fair enough, but unless we sign Momo for 2021, how is he coming back?

Maybe he doesn’t come back

And maybe someone else comes back?

Well Marsters and then Momo were both ahead of him last year in the kicking ranks. Maybe its too much pressure on him with the captaincy also.

Fingers crossed we get a new recruit who can kick and MBye doesnt have to.

He'd fill that right centre position well at the Storm. His conversion rate in terms of try scoring imo would be much greater than Chambers at less $. I hope this works out for him either coming back at WTs or staying at the Storm because he has proven to be a smart low maintenance footballer.

Maybe Bellamy doesnt want to strengthen a Premiership rival like Souths or the Roosters. So we send them Momo we get Grant and Melb says to JAC if you want to go to Sydney we will only release you to the Tigers. We could also pay a transfer fee to Melb for JAC they have the player now, the cap space and compensation might be what they want.

Wishful thinking, but I hope you're right.

WTs picking up Momorovski's contract assists the Storm in a position where it is short.

Hooker problem fixed while injury to ours.
Mbye to center then to hooker rotation with Talau on bench is my pic.
Talau has a good year what does momo come back to? ?
Mbye to 5/8 next year or 14

Still need a fullback. Interesting as I think every position is still being shuffled around with nothing certain yet.

For what it’s worth (not much), some random on Facebook reckons Grant can kick goals... I’ve done a little digging and cannot find anything bar 1 conversion across 41 games for the Sunshine Coast Falcons https://www.qrl.com.au/players/intrust-super-cup/sunshine-coast-falcons/harry-grant/ . Doesn’t inspire huge confidence if I’m honest but nonetheless am happy for a specialist hooker while Simpkin develops

Sounds like a great bit of initiative from our club.

Only loose end would be to send Momo down without extending first.

- Gives us/him certainty around contract
- Gives us a bargaining chip to get Josh back

Sending him down to Melb without an extension would be a poorer result. HOWEVER, no use having a goal kicker without an established 9 coz you won't be scoring too many to worry about converting.
