The 30th roster spot needs to be an outside back. Our lack of depth was exposed today when Mbye went off.

If we are forced to play Lawrence, MCK, McIntyre or (god forbid) McQueen in the centres this year, we are in all sorts of trouble.

To be fair Mbye and Momirovski were injured, and Talau was on the bench. We have centres, we probably lack another winger but Momirovski can play there too.

Love Momo - going to be a great centre.

Is a hopeless winger. Can fill in during a game if there is an injury but not a starting winger imo.

He’s not a hopeless winger at all. Scored half his tries there and ran 150+ metres every time he played there as well. Can find his way to the tryline very well which is more the skill of a winger than a centre, didnt really see him pass the ball and set up his outside man when he played centre. Think he’s very capable of playing both.

Ok Mate - whatever you say, must be right.

NB: I did say imo - I can't have that, right?

What's happening with issako? Isn't he starting the year in CC?

Yeah?
Siebold gone off him aye...

He's solid.
Not a fullback imo.
Centre.

Talking about Siebold I can not remember a first grade coach that makes more excuses after a lost or throws his player's regularly under the bus more then him can anyone remember a coach who does it as much as him? The Titans post match was a nice one for him today

He's a flop I reckon.
Bellamy wannabe.

I'd take Isakko.

I think he will be sacked before the season is over

Madge and Bennett will laugh their collective arses off. Sounds like Siebold snaked both of them.

Yeah I think Madge decided to take the chance to get more game time into Lawrence/MCK more than anything. I don’t think Talau is seen as ready for 1st grade yet either or they would have sent him out.

Just giving my opinion back mate no hard feelings. Think he’s a much bigger chance of playing centre than wing he’s good at both

Does anyone else think the salary cap will go down in the near future? Fox paid overs last time and are bleeding cash. Their offer likely won't be as big next time around. Less TV money = less money to clubs = lower salary cap

No way on earth fox paid “overs” . Sport is litterally the only content that is profitable for these companies .
They can say whatever they want but RL is the number rated sport in the country , so therefore the number 1 content product. They may want to pay less , but they know where their money comes from .
It’s all bull.

Yes it's where their money comes from, but that doesn't mean they didn't overpay. Subscriptions are dropping, profits are falling. Everything is moving to an on-demand streaming platform.

Kayo isn't nearly as profitable for them as a full foxtel subscription is, where they can upsell movies, drama packs etc.

Foxtel profits are tanking despite NRL and AFL. Users don't have to watch at home on their tvs anymore. Fans dont' want to pay $70 a month to mainly watch sport. Foxtel's business model is extremely outdated. There's a very real possibility Foxtel becomes insolvent in the near future. They're only surviving now thanks to bailouts from their parent company, who's profits are also falling sharply.

keep in mind MCK plays off the bench to fill the utility role if we need him, I think that was the point of playing him there as opposed to Talau, because he'll need it.

Can Foxtel really become insolvent? Backed by News Corp and Telstra, they won't run out of money any time soon, but may decide to abandon the product.

That being said, some of the FTA channels have been on life support for decades and yet they are still going, still propped up.

Matterson

From the little I saw he was slow, lazy and often 3rd into a tackle when he could bother.

I thought that too. Didn’t appear interested and the post match chat appeared to confirm that impression?

They won't run out of money but the powers that be won't keep flushing money down the sewer either FTA channels are supported by the advertising dollar but with how things are now with Coronavirus and stock markets going down who knows what's going to happen heaven forbid players playing for the love of the game and having to get a job like their predecessors.

That’s because they have an outdated business model , built around forcing people to pay “extra” for the sport package , when that’s all they want.
I can tell you right now that Optus would Move heaven and earth to get the NRL rights , same for ESPN.
If you put it to market for Amazon and Netflix as well .
But Disney (ESPN) would be the quiet juggernaut in all this . They have the existing infrastructure with ESPN and sports broadcasting , as well , as a ability to eat any potential losses .
Nobody has ever paid overs for a major sports broadcast.
Fox paid what they should have paid. Whether or not they didn’t forecast that the number 1 sport in this country would get its act together and negotiate a substantially better deal , is totally on them . Cord cutting was always coming .

Too many years these guys , had basically ripped off the NRL not the other way around . This sport is huge in this country , the stats back that up ?.

In fairness to Moses, he had a great game, parra looked shot at 10 nil down, Moses scored 2 solo tries to give parra the lead, and didn't play the second half.

He seems to be looking for the role that the Tigers refused to give him. Standing wide, bludging, and trying to be a 2nd half on that side.

Undoubtedly Moses had a great game. I was looking for combinations rather than individual performances and this one stood out more so because there were high expectations around these two working well together, and the opposite was evident. Maybe I’m reading too much into this and I don’t want to make it sound like a big deal, but something is not quite right there? It was more like Moses as the bacon and Matterson the egg.

God I hope so. I would love nothing more than to see them both put each other's form in jeopardy. As much as I hate Moses, he's way more important to team than an over rated back rower.
