I wonder how true this is.... genuinely wouldn’t surprise me, we need a winger like him at the club. Hopefully we can find a good one for next year.

Part of me would've liked to have seen the forum reaction if it eventuated.

I'll start it
What the he'll was Madge thinking
Is it the first sign of desperation from Madge

I mean we need a tall athletic winger who can score tries. Folau fits the bill perfectly, he signed Musgrove who had recent criminal charges so signing Folau probably wouldn’t be an issue for him.

Way to much bad press attracted to our club if he were to sign
Not just nationally but internationally
Its not something we need now or ever
Would much rather a Koribeti or Oats
He'll Vunavalu might even be available now Rugby Union is in some trouble
In fact I would offer him big money as he may renege on his Union deal
Vunavalu that's is

Honestly I don’t feel the drama would’ve been that bad. People would’ve forgotten about it after a few weeks if he kept himself out of trouble. Issue is he loves putting himself in the spotlight, id put a clause in his contract stating if he does anything like that again he’s instantly gone.

Packer could return to Warriors

Speaking of the Tigers, there are discussions around a potential loan deal involving Russell Packer returning to the Warriors for the next month. Packer is unlikely to be in the Tigers’ best 17 in the first round back, and the club believes he would benefit from a stint with the Warriors given there isn’t a lower-grade competition for him to imporve his match fitness. (SMH)

I know the game is in unchartered territory, but I don't like the idea of loaning players for a month. The Grant / Momo deal is a bit different due to the length if the deal and it is in effect a swap. The Packer rumour just takes loyalty out if the game.

Yeah I don't like the idea either. What happens if you loan a player to another team and they get injured? What about if it's a long term injury? They brought in last year that clubs could apply for dispensation when a player gets long term injured.

But how about when we loan a player to another club, and the player gets injured during a game. They are advised to stay on the field as the medical staff think it's not too bad, but later it's found out that the injury is more extensive then they thought, and staying on likely made the injury worse.

Na forget it. How does it advantage us to make our opponents stronger? Match fitness? Not a big enough carrot for mine.

The big difference is in soccer they loan players to teams that aren’t in the same league as them so there isn’t as much of a disadvantage of giving them away, you aren’t strengthening direct opposition.

It’s a good tool to give players experience that might not play first grade at your club but can play it elsewhere then they can come back to you with experience.

In this scenario I think it’s a great way to keep our players fit. Let’s be honest giving them someone like packer or Eisenhuth for four weeks isn’t going to dramatically improve them as a team. It benefits us quite lot if we have an injury then we can have Eisenhuth fill in after he’s already played some first grade and has some fitness about him.

I’d be a lot more hesitant about sending players out if reserve grade is up and running as they can stay fit there and play in the same system we have running in first grade as well. Would only do it in very particular cases.

Ethan parry released by Parra. Would be a good signing, but with the ridiculous current situation with Canterbury Cup maybe not that much use for us this year

Parry is a good player. His brother played junior NSW reps this year in the centres. Parry and Xerri were the centres for the Aust Schools team a few years ago.

Falau would be great for us just ehat we need on the field and off it he has clauses as to what he can or cant say
everyone would get out the pitchforks and be anti falau until he scores plenty of tries

I love falau but i think he would comman to.much salary and be a short term acquisition.

Continue to invest in youth and speed, this way the team matures together and is a force for a few years.

Wouldn't bother - upside is not good enough.

Don't think he was really setting the world on fire in union though the last 1 or 2 years. IMO he'd struggle, his best days are behind him.
Would love Tupou from Roosters though, surely they'd loan him to us?👌

Kiwis veteran Benji Marshall is reportedly considering a move to England as another potential high profile recruit to Super League

Marshall, 35, is off contract at Wests Tigers at the end of the season, and has previously said he will let his body decide if he plans to play on in 2021.

England's League Express website has now claimed Marshall's "name has been touted around'' to a number of Super League clubs in the last few weeks.

Marshall, a NRL winner with Wests Tigers in 2001 and a Rugby League World Cup champion with the Kiwis in 2008, would be the latest in a series of high profile recruits if he does decide to extend his career in England.

Dual rugby codes internationals Sonny Bill Williams (Toronto Wolfpack) and Israel Folau (Catalans Dragons) joined Super League clubs this year, and former Queensland and Kangaroos star Greg Inglis has signed for the Warrington Wolves for the 2021 season.

Marshall has played over 300 NRL games since his debut for the Tigers in 2003. He left Leichhardt Oval in 2013 for a shortlived Super Rugby stint with the Blues, but returned to the NRL and played for the Dragons and the Broncos before rejoining the Tigers in 2018.

After a strong season in 2019 under Tigers and Kiwis coach Michael Maguire, Marshall signed a new one-year deal for 2020.

The Tigers' co-captain was in dynamic form in the first two rounds before the competition was suspended due to the coronavirus pandemic.

The League Express report stated Marshall "may be forced out of the Tigers due to salary cap issues''.

That had prompted his representatives "to offer him to Super League clubs'', the report said.

Marshall would "command a big salary'' in Super League, the report said, but "most clubs will be wary of making an early move'' due to the financial situation caused by the pandemic.

Several Super League clubs are expected to have vacancies for halves, with Australian Albert Kelly set to leave Hull FC and several others, including Marshall's former Kiwis teammate Thomas Leuluai (Wigan) off-contract at the end of 2020.

I forgot that we won the comp in 2001, good thing Joey Johns didn't.

The best outcome for WTs is a fit and motivated Packer playing for WT.providing leadership and experience to a very young forward pack and getting game time en route to the finals,AND Stefano being loaned by eels to the Warriors and getting 1st grade experience before joining us next year to replace Packer....

The Eels won't loan Stefano out IMO. They will do as much as possible to avoid doing our club any favours as we have already seen.
Man I hope Mitch Mo chokes in the semi's and Matterson gets knocked unconscious every week. Eel scum.

I hope they don't even make the semis

So do I mate that's for sure. But they'll be there unfortunately. 3/4 of their games at home.....been a big drought for them premiership-wise and as we've seen the NRL loves to reward teams with a premiership after a long wait. Fairytale stuff?

That is not true he went ok in the first round and was diabolical in the second

i may be in the minority but i am very concerned about Benjis defense, it was poor in the first game and horrific in the second, if he and the Leilua boys are in defence god help us

Unless we have a genuine gun lined up there is no reason Benji should go to super league. Without reserve grade this year, it also means any of our young players won't have a chance to develop, so we need an experienced 5/8 next year.

Oh yeah, we have Josh Reynolds.

Hopefully Madge is working on a way to fix that. Too often Benji got isolated in defence and he’s just not got it in him anymore to tackles those big mobile second rowers anymore.

It’s definitely an issue, they need to make sure either one of the Leilua bro’s is always next to him so Benji isn’t making one on one tackles too often, that’s how both dragons and knights got through him.

Easy switch Brooks to the right hand side in defence as in the past 3 seasons has become one of best defensive halves in the comp ask Sam Burghi so he can do the Leilua's tackling..and Mbye and Garner can look after Benji..

If they all work together it’ll be a whole lot easier though. Luciano is a solid defender, Joey isn’t ?

Yeah I was thinking the same. I guess it depends on what teams we are playing, say with Penrith definitely would switch so Kikau isn’t going at Benji but other teams Benji might be safer on the right

Like Newcastle and the Dragons when Frizzell made him look like a speed bump..
